@moonbus saidThat is inaccurate; the "hush money payment" made in violation of Federal campaign limits to help Donald's White House run is the object crime which elevates Falsifying a Business Record (here 34 of them) from a misdemeanor to a felony.
I agree. What did or did not happen with Daniels in bed is totally irrelevant, as is the payment of hush money. It’s about covering up the payment later on. It’s a replay of the break-in at the Watergate hotel. The break-in itself was trivial, it was the cover-up that led to Nixon‘s resignation.

@AverageJoe1 saidAll on the orders of one Donald Trump.
COHEN, 51, of NEW YORK, NEW YORK, pleaded guilty to five counts of willful tax evasion; one count of making false statements to a bank; one count of causing an unlawful campaign contribution; and one count of making an excessive campaign contribution.Aug 21, 2018

@shavixmir saidYou can't gag on a Spaghetti-O.
Stormy Daniels has been told she can’t describe trump’s cock in court. It would violate the gag order…

@AverageJoe1 saidNope.
Charisma, maybe. But we need to replace Biden, and Trump is all we got. Why replace him? Peace through strength comes to mind, ala Reagan. Never has a been a man with this much strength in the WH
Remember, Putin wanted Trump to win the 2016 election, very badly.
He saw him as a weakling.
Remember Helsinki?

@AverageJoe1 saidWhy are you guys so hell-bent on debasing yourselves to praise Trump?

As I said, I don't get it.

@no1marauder saidIf he had just paid hush money and not falsely declared it a business expense, and then tried to deduct it on his income tax, would there have been a case ?

@AverageJoe1 saidExcept that Trump isn’t a great man, a great leader, or a great businessman. Just an inflated liar.
Then there was the whore-monger Thomas Jefferson, he was still a great man. Ouch. You fellers don't think of that, do you. I hope just one juror does.

@moonbus saidGary Hart had one indiscretion on a yacht that was photographed with a zoom lens.
Anybody here remember Gary Hart ? My, how the conservatives have slipped.
That was quite enough to get him bounced out.
Also, if I am not mistaken, others to get bounced after one bad press day include Howard Dean and before that, Michael Dukakis.
Clarification: I don't actually 'remember' Gary Hart, but I have read up on him.
I'm telling you, what is embarrassing for the Republicans is exactly how much they let Trump get away with, including making Russia 'cool' again, even in the midst of a Russian invasion of a sovereign border state. Not Your Grandfather's GOP.

@moonbus saidWhat exactly is the "that" you are referring to?
Well that’s where Trump got into trouble. If he hadn’t tried that, would there be a case ? (just paying hush money isn’t a crime)
A "hush money" payment made by a third person to benefit a candidate IS a crime IF it exceeds allowable individual contribution limits. The candidate conspiring with the third party to do so is also a crime.
Now true, for whatever reason, federal prosecutors declined to charge Trump for that crime. But the false records were part and parcel of the same scheme meant to conceal the illegal contribution.
So your question is unclear.
The mores of those days were a little tighter, today the F word is used casually by people like Shav, movies have it all hanging out, and everything in our society is acceptable now. It was not then. It is strange, as a Catholic, that the Catholic Church put out a list of what they called the condemned movies …..movies Catholics were not allowed to see.
