@no1marauder saidIf Trump had paid Daniels hush money directly, without engaging a third party to pay her; if he had not claimed the payment was a business expense; and if he had not claimed the payment to be tax deductible— would there be a case ?
What exactly is the "that" you are referring to?
A "hush money" payment made by a third person to benefit a candidate IS a crime IF it exceeds allowable individual contribution limits. The candidate conspiring with the third party to do so is also a crime.
Now true, for whatever reason, federal prosecutors declined to charge Trump for that crime. But the false recor ...[text shortened]... parcel of the same scheme meant to conceal the illegal contribution.
So your question is unclear.

@no1marauder saidPoint taken. But I wonder why the prosecutor called Daniels to testify, if nothing that allegedly happened in the hotel room was a crime. He’s not charged with rape, but falsifying records afterwards.

That’s what Sonhouse says.
He's a narcissist and a buffoon.
We knew that when he came down the escalator.

As such, the jury needed to hear it.
It speaks to motive.

@Cliff-Mashburn saidShe "owes" him nothing.
She owes Trump $560,000 and has no intention of paying it back, even if she could.
Nothing she says can be trusted.
NOTHING.

@AverageJoe1 saidIf there is one thing Trump understands, it’s grandstanding. He just can’t abide anybody else doing it when he’s in the room.

@AverageJoe1 said“It’ll be over by Easter.” Would FDR have said that to the nation in the wake of “Dec. 7th, 1941, a date that will live in infamy.” ?
