Without a doubt, globalisation is the beginning of the end.

Corporations exist for 1 reason and 1 reason only: profit.

Corporations are a seperate legal entity, so basically the people in charge don't have to care about looking after the environment or the population, because they know that even if they kill millions in an 'accident', they can't be blamed.

Just look at the Union Carbide gas leak in Bhopal, India which killed 4000+ and affected 500,000. Some contributing factors for this were not translating the safety manuals from english into the local language and cutting the training in Handling of the gas from 1 year to 4 days.

When these types of people are in charge, and globalisation increases the power of these people, then surely it has to be a slippery slope.

Well, I hear they've got methane on Mars:

Maybe they've got oil too - let's invade.

Today's youth are far too disenfranchised to fight anything let alone fight the 5 corporations who will own and privatize the world in 50 years. Western civilization has been pacified by video games, the internet, sports, sit-coms, tv dinners, etc. This is the assault that Capitalism has unleashed onto the next generation. It is impossible to counter given the apathy and lethargy which have destroyed the minds of the majority of youth. I feel that the next major revolution to take place would have to be global. Is such a thing possible in today's pathetic world?

Indeed Raggy.

The fines and penalties imposed on these corporate "citizens" for killing, maiming and crippling hundreds of thousands of people was equivalent to a neglible percentage of their yearly profits. These corporate psychopaths are being allowed to run amok, spread and unify GLOBALLY unchallenged by any government or any international body.

Sickening.

This Earth is doomed.

Unfortunately, capitalism is here to stay - so you'd better adapt.
Ah. See. This is where you are wrong.

What creates change? Friction does.
So long as you have capitalism you will have friction. A friction between bosses and workers. This situation can do nothing except lead to change.
Eventually, the two will no longer have friction, for they will become one and the same. He who produces will have control over production and an equal say in distribution.

Once this happens, the age of capitalism ends. The age of Star Trek will start.
Or socialism.
Call it whatever you like.

Are you telling me that our capitalist socitey will eventually evolve into a socialist society? Are you neglecting the fact that trends show the exact opposite? Socialism is dead, man. The western worker is no longer needed. They can be found in nations like India, Bangladesh, Mexico, etc. The world will never go back that way, the Russians ruined it for everyone. Only global revolution could spark such a drastic change, and like I mentioned earlier - what are the odds of such a thing happening in our apathetic and lethargic world?

Yes. Socialism is a logical consequence of capitalism.

The Soviet Union was too early. That's all.
Eventually the workers in the countries you mentioned will be in the same position we are in now. That's a logical consequence of globalisation.
Then you'll see capitalism end.

Leninism is dead. Stalinism is dead. Real socialism has never been tried.

Corruption and man's natural need for power makes "real" socialism a pipe dream. Don't get me wrong, it's a great dream but the way things are going - this planet will be a wasteland before the rebellion you want or the natural evolution shavix wants happens.

It may be logical but it's far from realistic.

Capitalism, unfortunenately, will never go away. Those who have benefited from it (ie: the multi-millionaires) will use their power and money to keep it, and those who beleive US propaganda that they shouldn't bash a millionaire because they themselves will get millions if they "work hard" (ie: the minions of millionaires, ie: Republicans like slimjim) will fight for the said system. The sad thing about it, is these minions could have such a better life off socialism, but would rather play the lottery of capitalism hoping they are that lucky 1% who becomes rich and thus becomes a god, so they work hard their whole lives helping a multi-millionaire get rich hoping for a promotion they never get, and all this work, was consequently all for nothing, all for a capitalist dream that is unattainable and unrealistic. . .

If socialism is a pipe dream it's only because everyone is sitting around bemoaning the supposition that socialism is a pipe dream. It becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy.

BTW, greed is NOT human nature, it has become human CULTURE. For example, why do you take a bath everyday? You don't actually have to do that for your very survival, most animals in the wild to not bathe themselves everday, it has just become part of your accepted culture to do so. Humanity, unfortunenately, over time, has come to accept greed as a neccessary culture, and even admire those who "acheive" such greed. Jesus would not be impressed. . . (a little jab to you Republican Christians)
