@sh76 saidYou mean a private business has decided to ban people posting lies, misinformation and conspiracy propaganda which has been found to lead to street violence in various countries?
You're wrong.
Twitter has engaged in a massing penalizing of people who did not toe the Orthodox line on things like COVID lockdowns. Some accounts were banned, while others were merely suspended or stripped of most of their followers.
This is not just about Trump or the far right.
Twitter is actively creating for itself a left wing echo chamber.
Yah. I wonder why?

@handyandy saidThe most obvious choice, now that you mention it, would be traditional, as it has done so well for well over TWO HUNDRED years, Appears that AOC et al want to fix something that aint broke, I'm figuring the 'fix' will certainly bring our country down.
I can discern two distinct parties of "Republicans" — the traditional conservatives and the neofascists.
Where do you fit in?
One reason, if no other, for me to NOT be a neofascist??? It is because I do not believe person A should be in any way involved in person B's business. I've just never gotten that. I think it is a democratic principle? Do you know that Biden is pushing to take money from people that have it and give it to somebody else. Why, it's in the news. Andy, that is fascism.
Do you think it is OK to get involved in someone else's business???? Do you agree with Biden's idea? Does that make you a fascist, party notwithstanding?

@shavixmir saidBanning people who plan riots is one thing. Banning people or eliminating thousands of followers from people for saying that Ivermectin is worthwhile COVID treatment is something else. Two people I've followed for months have been banned for little more that arguing against lockdowns and school closings.

Twitter is a private company, of course. It can do what it wants. But as far as I'm concerned, it has no more claim to being a platform. It's a publisher of content, with all the risks and liabilities that entails.

@averagejoe1 saidI'm not worried about his intent. Let his intent to be to silence conservatives. So what? He has every right to hold that intent. The only thing that matters to me is the protections from liability that he gets. If he's just a platform, then he's not liable for defamation published on his site. But if he's a publisher, he is.

If he censors content based on his political viewpoint, then he's a publisher and he should be sued every time he doesn't censor someone's defamation.

@sh76 saidYou do understand that insurrection, etc. is facilitated by subversive ignoring of facts?

You’re not talking about people discussing a priori vs emperic... you’re talking about people who have left reality so far behind they want to overthrow governments.

@shavixmir saidThis quasi-despot is saying he will use power to change things in our society. Says he is just getting started, Trump as small potatoes. I cannot believe the casual approach exhibited here in this forum.

@averagejoe1 saidHe is quite rightly going to use his executive powers to tear down the last four years of Trumptardium. If that’s what you mean. Anything that is enacted by executive order can be revoked by executive order.

Just see it as a counter-measure to Breitbart and you’ll be fine.
So go out and burn a cross, rape your sister or whatever you do when you’re not being stupid and infesting the forum with your special brand of moronity.

@shavixmir saidBut those aren't the (only) people that Twitter has banned/restricted. That's my point. Twitter's actions have been against a much broader swath of people than those who have engaged in "subversive ignoring of facts." Arguing that COVID lockdowns are unjustified or that the government has no right to shut private elementary schools is not "subversive ignoring of facts" by any reasonable measure.

He didn't incite insurrections or engage in far right fantasy rhetoric. He simply argued against lockdowns. That was his whole Twitter purpose and persona. And they banned him.
You can still see some of his archived Tweets in various places.

@sh76 saidDo you have links for that I’d be surprised if that’s actually what they were banned for.

Unless of course they are saying the lockdowns are unjustified because covid is a hoax or social distancing is irrelevant to its spread because those would be deadly mistruths and it would be irresponsible to give them a platform.
If I hold an open invite party at my house and a mumbling drunk person staggers up my drive am I being unreasonable if I refuse him entry to my house?

We’ve got enough McDonalds workers anyway. It’s not like we’re losing a future cure for a disease or something.

@sh76 saidMy post about 'his intent' is a post about the CEO at Twitter. Sorry if that was not clear, ,,,,,again, see his video on page one of this thread, he is a danger.

If you want to talk about Biden with HIS intent, I think I will start a few poignant threads. One thing is he wants to cancel the Keystone Pipeline on Wednesday. Yet, he has railed on about infrastructure, jobs, etc. The Pipeline is All ABOUT infrastructure.
Another thing, reinstate our position with the Paris Accord. Trump made us energy independent by getting out of it. It is quite logical that we will NOT be energy independent when we get back in. Hey, sh76 , watch the gas prices.
Do you know that Russia and China are setting up their own oil pipeline....right now?!?!? I think you fellers have your head in the sand. (not really, HandyAndy, just a metaphor).
