@AThousandYoung saidYeah, the tariffs are another thing entirely. What we have shaping up for the year ahead is the Perfect Storm of inflationary forces. I'm only now, I think, beginning to wrap my head around the magnitude of the impending economic wipe-out. If the nation doesn't splinter, then I foresee an immense political realignment on the horizon. Almost certainly there will be a severe recession. Time will tell...

As MacBeth points out, most consumer goods in the USA up to now were imported through California. Prices for clothes and other goods will also go up due to the tariffs.
At 16:07 to 16:43 MacBeth discusses this topic.
@Great-Big-Stees saidAdjusted for inflation, he's worth less now than his trust fund was worth the day he was hatched.
Trump is a “highly successful” business man…he knows what he’s doing.🤣
@Soothfast saidHmmm. Maybe he’s not as an astute business man as I/he thinks he is.🤔🫢
Adjusted for inflation, he's worth less now than his trust fund was worth the day he was hatched.
@Cliff-Mashburn saidAnd also, this seeming calamity, which will subside when the shock and awe of a real president comes into focus, will be nothing compared to the mess CA has already been in, and how much deeper it promises to go down the rabbit hole. The (temporary) losses of farm profits will be nothing compared to the permanent and long-lasting losses being incurred by the whole state of CA under the leadership of this faerie-like governor.
I see this as a positive thing. It will force the farm owners to stop picking up people standing in front of Home Depot or wherever and actually hire regular employees at a decent wage.
@AThousandYoung saidLike Biden, these limp liberals are more concerned about the welfare of the immigrants than they are of our citizens. None of you have ever commented on the hell from Hurricane Helene in NC. Trump has, and prior to being amongst that warzone with the citizens yesterday in Ashville, he had been there prior to presidency. Biden? naaaaaaaa
Florida provides that stuff. Do they use immigrant migrant workers?
But who has time to talk about Biden. Let us agree to forget him. Just like Sonhouse has forgotten Jan 6!
@AverageJoe1 saidThe entire nation benefits from California's cheap contingent workforce in the agricultural sector. Therefore, the entire nation will suffer the consequences of that cheap labor disappearing. The calamity will not simply "subside" by dint of some horseshit fairy dust you call "shock and awe" at the ill-considered actions of a lawless president.

Tariffs = higher prices for consumer goods.
A decimated California harvest = even higher prices for consumer goods.
Loss of cheap labor in construction = yet higher still prices for consumer goods.
Loss of cheap labor in all other sectors = the sky's the limit for prices.

@Soothfast saidMaybe some of Trump’s “supporters” will take on the jobs currently being done by those being sent back from whence they came…but will they do it for the same wages/benefits? 🤔

@Soothfast saidyou are too, just too dumb to realize it 🙄
Adjusted for inflation, he's worth less now than his trust fund was worth the day he was hatched.
@Great-Big-Stees saidWell, that's always been the problem. The undocumented workers take jobs that others won't take. We'd do better just making them citizens, increasing their pay, and giving them benefits. Why not? Unemployment is extremely low right now, so really, no MAGA moron is going to lose their job if such a strategy were implemented. It's been done in the past with great success.

@Mott-The-Hoople saidHuh? I wasn't born with a trust fund, you twatwaffle.

@Soothfast saidAs Trump often says, let’s just wait and see………….as your horizons will indeed expand. Every little bit of Trump will serve us well, such as the eradication of about 2000 immigrants already, who may have run over your Daughter. Really, how many crimes do you think just by that one Action will have been thwarted? How about all the wonderful firing of people in government? Do you know Biden never fired anybody? Does that sound like good business to you?

@Great-Big-Stees saidNo, it will be for the amount of wages or benefits that they agree upon. So yes, it will be different probably than it was. And then maybe different the next day. This is a capitalist society, you silly goose. I don’t know how y’all think straight all day.
Maybe some of Trump’s “supporters” will take on the jobs currently being done by those being sent back from whence they came…but will they do it for the same wages/benefits? 🤔
@AverageJoe1 saidYou are such a weak-minded, sycophantic pussy, your IQ must go down every time you spank your monkey.
Every little bit of Trump will serve us well,
@Soothfast saidillegal workers are not contributing to the economy when they are sending their earnings out of the country, they are not paying income tax or SS. Their money paid for rent goes to a wealthy individual who banks the money stopping circulation.
It's the presence of undocumented workers in the US that is the real boon for the nation's economy. Throwing them out of the country is not the same thing, by a long shot, as emancipating slaves who subsequently stayed in the economy.
You need to pick your cherries with more care to better reinforce your alternate reality.
Or better yet, just be less in ...[text shortened]... f, and save yourself the nasty surprises every time real reality comes knocking on your door.
Many things are wrong with an underground economy as with illegals…the US doesnt benefit but the wealthy do.
