@wajoma saidOh, please. 🙄
It's in recognition of my blue collar roots. I was a welder at the time of signing up to RHP. Now, what my employer refers to as a 'shiny bum', polishing up the seat of my trousers on an office chair.
A more apt analogy; the lens filter cuts out the harmful collectivist rays and reveals the bright light of truth. So that the molten pool of rugged individualism may solidif ...[text shortened]... rag under your welding helmet, as against the wuflu they're a complete, utter, total waste of time.
Just another "holier-than-thou" crank.
@suzianne saidI believe man should interact by consent, free from force and threats of force, you believe in forcing your own pet dream feelings on your fellow man, and while you might have the facial hair you don't have the balls to do it yourself so you hide behind goobermint thugs.
Oh, please. 🙄
Just another "holier-than-thou" crank.
The god botherers have a saying: "Judge not lest ye be judged." Well I will judge and am happy to be judged because measured against you and shag doody I am a better person.
@wajoma saidWhat a rambling little capitalist piglet you are today, are you ok?
Interestingly this is how it was in NZ, when elections were first held in NZ. Only men and only men that held a certain amount of property could vote. Maori land (pronounced 'marry' ) tended to be communally held so the goobermint of the day bought in 4 race based seats, that is 4 marry* (phonetic spelling of Maori) seats.
A bit later the land holding requirement was reli ...[text shortened]... was determined as a percentage with the 50/50 people in the middle free to opt for one or the other.
So do you agree with AJs idea of only the landed gentry getting to vote, even though he gave no justification for it whatsoever.
@kevcvs57 saidkev, I already floated a theory, you replied to it on another thread

REMEMBER???
Those that pay for goobermint get to vote on goobermint, your vote should be weighted by how much tax you've paid., All the state tit suckers that are, on nett, parasites don't get to vote. Those with the most say would then vote down what they have stolen from them and in so doing would have less of a say. A natural balance would be struck.
So no, I do not agree with the land ownership requirement, that would make Bill Gates the single largest most powerful vote in the US. I merely pointed it out as a matter of historical interest, it did not end in revolution as some hypothesized.
@wajoma saidUnfortunately like your other theories concerning fiscal management and governance this one is child like and inelegant. There will be no balancing because the electorate ( the wealthy ) will defend their position with all the coercive power that their position grants them and it will descend into an oligarchy on steroids.

You get the vote because you are an adult citizen how much you earn is irrelevant to your citizen status.
What your describing or hoping for is a state who’s best interests lies in keeping the majority of the population dirt poor and disenfranchised.
If you’ve got anymore bright ideas feel free to share.
@kevcvs57 saidMy other theory is that anyone that aspires to be a politician should be immediately banned from the position.

The weighted vote was actually a light hearted joke but terminal bores that take themselves too seriously such as yourself are like an anchor dragging everyone down.
@wajoma saidCalm down dearie your rugged individualism will steam up and you might bump into reality.

I was only throwing a little levity in when I said "Only owners of Real estate should vote!", I know y'all are still smartin' over the EPA ruling, among others.
But should not voters at least have some skin in the game? Be paying taxes? Yes, I know they pay tax when they buy a coke/hamburder, (Pepsi up north), to eat and drink to stay alive. But if someone wanders around in our heady society paying nothing into it, can anyone cite a reason that they should have a right to vote, a right to dictate the way things go in this society?
You may have reasonable answers,, I would like to know them. Hurry up, I have coffee group at 9AM! Will spread the learned comments.
Example: A bunch of border crossers all end up living in a small town . They make up 52% of the populace. None pay taxes. The town plans a roller skate park that is iffy among the citizens. Some vote no. The 52% join up and vote on the park, it passes. The park is built. Hey....talk about No Skin In The Game!!
Suzianne: "Hey, you. got a point there, AvJoe. You are stupid, but gotta hand it to you. I'd be mad, I don't skate!!"
@averagejoe1 saidThe skin in the game is that these effers get to run your life they can even tell you to be a parent regardless of your wishes, they can chuck a rifle in your hand and send you to die for something you do not give a 💩 about, they can poison the air you breath, the water you drink and the food you eat.

We all have skin in the game regardless of income tax returns.
@averagejoe1 saidYou republicants really hate democracy huh!

@kevcvs57 saidKev, there is not a government in the world that cannot do that. I don't get you there. The answer, or course, is to vote for people who do NOT tell you how to run your life. How to raise your children. I agree with you 100%. This is why I keep saying to please leave us the hell alone. As too making non-tax payers fight, at the moment the USA does not do that.

But to be real, some countries may Have to call on all the young men to, for example, join military to fight off aliens trying to breach their sovereign border.
@averagejoe1 saidAnd Republicanism, to you, is that 1% of people can tell the other 99% how to live and die.
I think that democracy to you is that 51% of all inhabitants of a country, no matter who, can control the other 49%. If I am incorrect, tell us your definition?
@averagejoe1 saidTry to maintain some consistency in your posts joe, you talked about only those with skin in the game being able to vote as if taxes were the only skin a citizen could have in the game. I gave you numerous other examples of skin in the game.

What is it with right wingers? Lose a debating point, pretend that wasn’t the point, but keep trying to make the same point Shhhsh
