Many Americans want the US to withdraw their troops from Iraq.

I am surprised that those in favour of this policy and opposing the Bush administration for not having a good plan to be implemented after the Iraq invasion, do not present a plan for, or at least an analyses of, what will happen to Iraq and the region after the troops have left.

What will happen in Iraq and the region after the US troops have left the country ? What is your opinion ?

(First of all, of course, I would like to hear those debaters commenting and presenting their ideas on this subject who are in favour of withdrawing the troops ..... )

I guess there would be what amounts to civil war followed by the rise of some dictator who manages to bash the country together and it end up much like it did although this time the dictator will not be able to behave as a puppet to the west.

Whatever the outcome, mess or otherwise, it will be their own mess.

I'm afraid that this isn't true. What happens in Iraq will have a significant influence on the whole region, including Iran and Syria ..... and what happens in the Middle East has consequenses for the whole world.

Once their oil is gone that'll be the end of the middle east's influence. It'll just become another desert region like parts of africa

Humans have been here for thousands of years and will continue to be here for thousands more. You figure we can solve this problem lickety-split?

20-40 years to pump those oil wells dry and then it's over

Depends on how good a diplomat and politician the Iraqi President is. It's not really our problem though.

I hope the US remains in Iraq and that it turns into another festering Vietnam.

If you ain't willin' to listen, it's better you start feelin'.

I strongly disagree to this comment, I do not believe that the war is over oil at all. if you disagree with this comment i'll have you remember 9/11. but perhaps you think it was a government scam?

maybe so

Wrong. It is all the USA's problem it effects our reputation, ego, and it is our duty to be the police of the world, seeing as we are the strongest.

that would be bad. if you research vietnam you'll see it was a horrable war. back to the piont though... we still stuck with vietnam even though it was horrable. there is a good lesson there.

EDIT: Liver... kidneys... it's all the bloody same to me...

Our reputation and ego will be harmed more the longer we stay there. We have no duty to police the world.
