I was a B-52 navigator.
Prior to that I was in Army Signal intelligence, enlisted, served a year in Vietnam and another year in Thailand on a radio outpost right off the Mekong River across the border from Vientiane, Laos. I was an E-5.

If you try to get out of a six-year enlistment two years early and not go, it has to go through higher headquarters, and it will not be approved, especially for a SUPER senior NCO or Officer..
