Your version of "culture" is a stereotyped, racist view of what you think all blacks believe. It fools no one.

The actual "culture" of US blacks is virtually indistinguishable from whites regarding crime i.e. they are against it and they are disproportionate victims of it.
? Well, Marauder, I guess I can conversely say that your version of racism is stereotyped , etc etc. And you said what "I think all blacks believe'. Whaaaaaaat?? Did I mention blacks, or race, for all that matter,? Is that you Suzianne??

Has everyone noticed that no one has stated why (soft on crime) all the criminals ar being allowed back on the street, and all the shoplifters are allowed to STEAL goods from my Uncle Morty's dry goods store, without arrest?
Why do libs not answer uncomfortable questions? Like, would it be better to live in Taiwan than China? Do you know how silly and pansy you all look?
Should not criminals be locked up, pay for their crimes?
And you got Marauder answering a post about culture by writing abut a different concept, the concept of race? Are y'all for real? I think I will go read some of Sonhouse's old posts.

Ever considered just reading a book that doesn't come with a complimentary pack of crayons?

Do I really need to get into this? God damn.

Right:
- what is the cause of the crime?
- what’s been done to tackle the cause?
- which crimes have actual human victims?
- which punishments suit which crime?
- do you punish someone for feeding their kids or someone with psychological problems?
- if not, what do you do then?

- Why do you protect certain criminals?
- why do you muddy the waters between criminals and soldiers?

The list of questions you need to ask yourself is a lot longer still.

If someone’s poor and steals because of that, is a fine going to make them poorer? Does that solve the problem?

If someone is locked up because of theft because they are poor, does the remaining family have more or less chance of getting stuck in poverty?

If you lock people up, are they more or less likely to bump into positive role-models?

Do you want to punish people, no-matter-what? Or do you want to create a safe and healthy society to function in? Which would you prefer?

You assume people only commit crimes because they are poor?

The world has plenty of bad people just because they are bad.
Plenty of people in prison who had money.

You also assume that people want to be good and live in a happy world.
Well I got news for you about that...
Some people just want to see the world burn.

...or they just don't give a fuk and they steal because they want to...
Y'all seem to think its always someone trying to feed their kids and that is laughable cliche bullshyt.

What is your endgame? This is all because of liberals. Do y'all know people who do this? 10 cretins in NYC committed a total of 550 of the crimes there
Rather than complain about politicians being soft on crime, look into what is driving crime in the first place. Look at causes instead of symptoms. Violent crime in America surged 30% during the pandemic, and 75% of that was gun-related. Police departments across the land are overwhelmed with hot cases and officers are retiring early and quitting in droves. This is nothing to do with liberal or conservative politics. This is a nation becoming collectively ungovernable.

No. That is not what I wrote.
I used poverty as one example. As well psychiatric problems… as examples.

There are multitudes of reasons for people misbehaving. The questions remain.

So you are OK with people breaking the law, let them go, and you seem to think that people who are poor should be allowed to break the law with no consequence???

Thumb up for Beowulf. Shav, would you be a bit more specific about what you think would be a perfect world? Your post definitely leans to allowing people, whoever they are, to do what they want to do. And I notice you left out the cretins who beat the hell out of old ladies. Yeah, they are probably poor. So what?
Personally, people who are poor, except for the 40M destitute, want to be poor. In this country, no one has to be poor. But, I digress. So tell us, Shav. Geeez.

Nothing to do with lib politics? The libs have decided to put criminals on the street. Don't get you there.
Hey,, your taxes are about to go up, everyone. Biden lied.

Who mentioned reasons??? Beowulf, did you mention reasons? A bit of liberal-eze to water down the issue, Shav.
Yeah, you are right, If I am poor and steal a loaf of bread like Jean val Jean did, I guess I can have a foolproof defense.....I am POOR,, so it is legal to steal the bread. I had a REASON! Libs. Jesus.

SHav and I live on same street. He has 50 loafs of bread in his house,.... so do I. Shav sees 3 poor people steal all of his bread, I watch it happen.
Shav walks over to my house,, I wonder what he would say.

That’s right. Ignore the questions and the actual issues.

Just lock ‘em up and throw away the key, eh?
How’s that working out for you? Highest prison population in the world, mass shootings every week, drug crimes, etc.

Your “system” sure seems to be creating a better society to live in, doesn’t it?

Apparently he thinks everyone arrested for a minor crime should rot in jail indefinitely.

Bail reform was implemented for a pretty simple reason; neither NY or any other state has the jail capacity to keep everyone arrested in jail until trial even if it was allowed by the Constitution (which it isn't). This isn't being "soft on crime"; it's recognizing A) Reality and B) The 8th Amendment.
