@averagejoe1 saidFirst, I don't agree with a Koch Brothers created, oil company funded lobbying group's definition that a mere excess of energy product exports over imports constitutes "energy independence" in a capitalist system. In such a system, the product will be sold where it can make the most profit regardless of what the needs of a nation's People are. By the definition given, Ireland in the 1840s was "food independent" but that did not prevent mass starvation during the Potato blight as food supplies were exported rather than making their way to dying Irish.
oops, thought i'd sent this one-of-many links. I'm not to good with links, didn't use them in debate class.https://www.instituteforenergyresearch.org/fossil-fuels/gas-and-oil/the-united-states-was-energy-independent-in-2019-for-the-first-time-since-1957/
I think Trump was probably involved in this!?!??
Secondly this:
"The fact is, while the United States may not import oil on a net basis, it still imports a vast amount of oil even as it exports oil and petroleum products. U.S. imports of oil from Saudi Arabia have fallen over the past decade, but only modestly, to just below 1 million barrels per day last year.
Congress saw fit over the past several years to sell off roughly half of America’s strategic oil reserves to fund other priorities, based on the misperception that the United States has become energy independent. The resulting price spike at the pump will reveal that decision was short-sighted. A massive, temporary oil supply disruption of this kind is exactly what the Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR) was created to mitigate.
The vulnerability of U.S. consumers to global oil price spikes depends not on how much oil the United States imports, but on how much it consumes. The best way to insulate drivers from inevitable oil price shocks is to reduce how much oil we use in the first place. In this light, the Trump administration’s decision to roll back fuel-economy standards is also misguided.
https://foreignpolicy.com/2019/09/18/the-myth-of-u-s-energy-independence-has-gone-up-in-smoke/
Trump has been consistently hostile to renewable energy sources which is the true path to "energy independence" even repeating moronic misconceptions about wind power. This is an actual verbatim Trump statement:
"We’ll have an economy based on wind. I never understood wind. You know, I know windmills very much. I’ve studied it [sic] better than anybody I know. It’s [sic] very expensive. They’re made in China and Germany mostly, very few made here, almost none. But they’re manufactured — tremendous, if you’re into this, tremendous fumes, gases are spewing into the atmosphere. You know we have a world, right? So the world is tiny compared to the universe. So [a] tremendous, tremendous amount of fumes and everything — you talk about the “carbon footprint” — fumes are spewing into the air, right? Spewing. Whether it’s in China, Germany, it’s going into the air. It’s our air, their air, everything, right?
So they make these things, and then they put them up, and if you own a house within vision of some of these monsters, your house is worth 50 percent of the price. They’re noisy, they kill the birds. You want to see a bird graveyard? You just go, take a look, a bird graveyard? Go under a windmill some day. You’ll see more birds than you’ve ever seen ever in your life …"

This is the idiot we'll be rid of in 6 weeks.
@averagejoe1 saidAh, you mean like how Trump kicked Iran's ass, and now Iran has 12 times the enriched uranium stockpile they had before Trump? Or how he kicked Kim Jong Un's ass, and now rocket man has more nukes and more ballistic missiles than before Trump? Or how he said he would kick Saudi Arabia's ass if it came out that the Saudi govt had anything to do with Khashoggi's murder, and it did and he didn't? Or how he kicked Joe Biden's ass in the election and lost by 7 million votes?
kicked ass, i guess. How do you think he did it? Does Basement Biden know how to kick ass? Using all of Obama's yes-men? Your man Obama gets a 3rd term. Your president is so WEAK! That would be a good topic. But I sure hope everyone likes him. That is important. Yeah, a very important factor.
Yep, a real kick-ass president.
EDIT: oh, wait. I got it now. It was when his hand-packed kick-ass Supreme Court rejected his attempt to overturn the state of PA election result in a withering single-sentence with no dissenting opinion and no commentary. Yeah, that was real kick-ass.
@dood111 saidThe libs here want you to tell us just how Biden is corrupt!!!! They do not believe it. And while you are at it, please tell them if Trump was corrupt!!! They want it out on the table, (except for a few things about which they are in denial. (Brings to mind, did they EVER say a cross word about Bill Clintons's (Rapist, liar) wife??)
But senile corrupt and traitorous Biden is?
@no1marauder saidYour first paragraph is covered by the old adage.....A rising tide raises all ships. If the Koch brothers made money, so did a lot of other people, but, with respect, you fellers just have never been able to grasp that. Uhhh, what would you have had the brothers do?!!

Your next sentence says "....WILL REVEAL that the decision was shortsighted". I dont think I have ever predicted the future. You are doing that here. The world really turns, really rocks, Marauder. Do you think tomorrow will roll on based upon today's events? I do not think so. There could be a sugar cane war in Brazil, might ripple thru the world economy, they love sugar in Italy.
Your next para suggests 'reducing the amount of oil we use in the first place'. Why Maruader, you seem the socialist. Govt regulations??? Trump dumped them, you want them back. Socialist. Oh, and who decides how much oil I can use tomorrow? AOC?? How do you think that will work out, while she is saving Polar Bears!!!!!!
Last paragraph? About the windmills? You must live somewhere where they will not ruin your livelihood and the raising of a family, and, maybe sitting on your back porch. Do you know that Ted Kennedy went absolutely nuts when a windmill deal was scheduled for his fancy neighborhood? He was a liberal like you, you should have a skull session with AOC, and friends, since he is no longer around.
You people are in la la land. Oh, and don't forget, Trump is right....esp about the birds. I love birds. I think dogs are the worst, maybe you have one? Please keep it outside when I come over! But birds? Dont you like birds? I use to consider you a lib, but, you are a marxist as you proved last week, and you certainly are a socialist,,,and you are proud of it. Absolutely unbelievable. But here is an emoji.

@averagejoe1 saidI can see why you and other poorly educated Americans admire Trump so much.

He "thinks" like you do which is to say hardly at all.
The exit polls make this clear: college educated White voters favored Biden 51% to 48% but white voters with no degree were 67% to 32% in Trump's pocket (note there was very little difference between levels of education and voting patterns among people of color). https://www.cnn.com/election/2020/exit-polls/president/national-results
High levels of gullibility and ignorance seem conducive to Trump's messaging.
@no1marauder saidBecause without that, he'd have nothing and he'd be laughed out of every bar on the planet, not even to mention being considered for elective office by anyone with an IQ over 80.

I woke up on Nov. 9th, 2016 to a world gone mad. Not because Hillary was not president, but because Donald Trump was. I had not believed that that many Americans were so willing to stick a thumb in the eye of other Americans that they would abandon all morals and pledge their allegiance to a well-known con man.
@averagejoe1 saidHey Joe you voted for, and still adore a rapist so you might want to row back on the moral indignation.

The post that was quoted here has been removedIt would appear that being a rapist is no barrier to getting the presidency in your country earl, you Americans might want to think about that.
Now it seems that being a despotic anti democratic rapist is ok too, with the republicans anyway.
Looks like a race to the bottom with the Republicans romping home a country mile ahead of the Dems.
@kevcvs57
So in other words, you're dodging the issue.
If finger pointing makes one guilty, then Biden is JUST AS GUITY AS TRUMP.
But then again, you democrat sycophant's never had a use for the equal protection clause.
@earl-of-trumps saidDisingenuous much, if you had followed the thread you’d have noticed it was AverageJoe who started pointing the hypocritical finger at presidential rapists.

Your the sycophantic hypocrite here as are the vast majority of your Republican cohort.
If I had to choose between a right wing fascistic anti democratic rapist and a moderate democratic rapist then yeah I’d vote for the latter.
Fortunately I don’t live or vote in the USA so it’s not a choice I’ve had to make, knowingly anyway.

@handyandy saidSure. He got govt out of the way. 6 presidents would not do that. That allowed oil companies to pump. Simple as that.
@AverageJoe1
Still waiting for you to justify your claim about "energy independence."
You are obviously trolling Avgjoe.
@AverageJoe1
"Got govt out of the way'.
Yeah, you WOULD like that. DECIMATE the EPA so those assswipe companies can dump toxins in rivers again, so that fracking operation can dump all the methane into folks drinking water with ZERO oversight.
Yep, going back 150 years when there was ZERO in the way of government controls over the excesses of shiitberg companies back then who though NOTHING of dump cyanide into a river if that was the quickest way to get rid of their waste.
So I guess that sort of thing is just GREAT with you because the most important thing on the planet is for the US to not import oil but to export it, no matter the cost to the environment or the coming debacle of climate change, which BTW is sneaking up the whole planet with alarming speed.
But of course to trolls like you, being a nice tame Trumpite cultist, you believe everything this criminal says, and if he says there is no climate change then that is now your truth, no climate change.
Like I have said before, you are a pathetic little man.
You need to open the blinders and see the world for what it is not the fairy tales and outright lies of your god king.
Fortunately Biden will make the EPA have teeth again. The whole idea of the EPA is to protect the ENVIRONMENT so we can maybe stop the coming climate disaster waiting for us in less than 30 years. We may have already gone past the tipping point of no return already which is on Trumps hands because of the irresponsible way he has handled, actually MIShandled everything he did 'for' the US.
BTW, also you touted how Trump did the warp speed deal, but there is one pesky detail you would refuse to even accept:
He pumped 1.7 billion into 100 million doses, which is enough for half that number of people since you need two doses, so enough for 50 million folks to get vaccinated.
That is less than 1/6th of the population and your god king refused to buy more since ALL this basturd thinks about is MONEY MONEY MONEY.
Pfizer was willing to sell us a LOT more but NOOOO, Trump didn't want to fork out the bucks to get enough, which would be about 700 MILLION doses (340 million US population, times 2) But since he is your god king, he must have had a good reason for that, right? TELL ME THAT REASON THEN.
@averagejoe1 saidYou mean fracking companies and it had nothing to do with trump it was a thing before Trumps sexual psychosis regarding Obama, er I mean presidency.
