Regardless, territories can't participate in national elections anyway. So using them as examples of the U.S. holding elections during war is not valid.

Your fact is correct but irrelevant. AK was then a U.S. territory and the United States went to considerable effort to re-assert sovereignty over it. As it would do today if the Marshall Islands were invaded.

I am under no illusion that the US is any better, that Russia's invasion of Ukraine is any less justified that US invading Afghanistan or Iraq, that Obama or Trump or Biden didn't happily kill civilians, that helping Ukraine is not a huge help for the weapons manufacturers as a testing ground for all the new toys.
End of the day, it's about Ukraine and Ukrainians. They are the ones invaded and they are the ones killed. And if one bully makes another bully think twice about entering a costly war, so be it.

Sending a letter from the front line to your loved one in a safe / third country is a hassle, but doable.
But, if your loved one is residing in an area constantly being bombed... it's a lot more of a hassle.
Who's gonna count the votes, when the chances of being bombed are high?
How are you going to reach the displaced hundreds of thousands?
How are you going to finance it, when all your resources are running low... even ammunition on the front line?
How are you going to send out ballots, when whole buildings have been destroyed and the addresses of people aren't known?
How are you going to set it up logistically? How are the people in Russian controlled areas going to vote? How are you even going to get the ballots out to them?
And say you manage.. how are you going to make sure they vote as they want, not as the soldier standing beside them tells them how to vote?
Really. There is so much moronity in you, that I am now quitting this pathetic debate. In the real world, so not in your head, it's just not a managable goal, when you're at war, part of the country is in enemy hands, half the instructure is bombed to smithereens, large sways of the population can't be reached and towns are being bombed on a daily basis.
