What would be your General Forum association football starting eleven?
Defenders: rock-solid, dependable, able to keep calm and calm things down, not notable for their flashy play.
Goalkeeper: the poster with the best defender credentials.
Midfielders: General utility players moving around from topic to topic handling themselves and the subject matter capably.
Captain: the poster with the best midfielder credentials
Wingers: able to lob crosses and unexpected ideas into the goal area and make the game interesting.
Strikers: their thing is putting the ball in the back of the net.
What's your XI?

@handyandy saidThe Strictly Compliments thread was the General Forum at its best, aside from one poster's off-topic axe-grinding.

@handyandy saidI'm sure you did. There were maybe as many as 850 posts on that thread in about 36 hours. What "sudden anonymity" are you referring to?
I asked for that, didn't I?

@handyandy saidSorry. I'm not really catching your meaning. Are you talking about giving anonymous thumbs or something like that?
Mine.
@handyandy saidBig deal or no big deal, if you have felt rubbed up the wrong way to some degree, I do apologize.
Let's just forget it. It's no big deal.

@drewnogal saidWe will play in an amateur Sunday morning league with fags and pies - and a pint of beer - at half-time. So "running" around will not be a major feature of our games. divesgeester might have to leg it here and there to avoid the offside trap. But the rest of you [my players] can kind of play football in a netball kind of way.
Do the midfielders do most of the running around?

@fmf saidMy recollection of netball was to avoid that scary, heavy leather ball that caused red slap marks on my skinny arms.
