@divegeester saidWhat do you mean? I believe in progress not tradition.
Women “traditionally” have been paid less than men. Is the “traditional” card the one you really want to play?
@kewpie saidExactly.
Australia has 500-odd male midwives. Plenty of male nurses too. Only people with archaic religious customs would have a problem with that.
Half our current trade apprentices are female. Nobody objects when the female plumber arrives to fix the leaks.
Seems that on this thread it has become clear that there are more insults being delivered than babies.
And so it comes to mind....birds of a feather flock together.
Here is to the good old delivery system, to the storks of yester-years.
How many here know that the business of midwifery was not limited to delivering babies, once upon a time?
@kewpie saidAnd as for Mexican females? They really are something else!

@torunn saidYou said it was “traditional” for women to be midwives rather than men, and you then went on to say that “one could argue that women are more suited” (to being midwives), following up with the lack of experience of childbirth also impacting.
What do you mean? I believe in progress not tradition.
That doesn’t sound a very progressive mindset to me.
Here’s your post, so people don’t mistake me as misrepresenting what you wrote.
I believe midwives are traditionally women and so were nurses and nursing assistants earlier. That is changing, or has changed and we will most likely meet more male midwives too. One could argue that women are more suited but all midwives haven't personal experiences from giving birth for different reasons, young age for instance. It's not a well-paid profession but if men choose that education, it might improve things for women as well.
@pettytalk saidSounds like you in threads over the last few days.

@divegeester saidPlease Dive, if you don't like what I post, don't read it. I get tired with you sometimes, you can't accept that I don't express myself as explicitly and well as you do. I would in Swedish though. Just leave it, please.

@pettytalk saidYou’re a relative newcomer. You’ll learn how to navigate the bun (sorry) fights in time like the rest of us did.

For Christ's sake! The world is coming to an end, do we really want any more babies delivered? They will have to be sent back, address unknown, no such number, no such zone, 3rd Rock from the Sun. No one lives there any longer. All dead and gone. See Voyager 1 or 2 for the forwarding address on record.
@torunn saidIt’s a discussion. I have always found you to be well able to express yourself in English. It’s nothing to do with wether I like what you post, I’m just responding to it.

@kewpie saidHas anyone been discourteous to Torunn?
Being able to coexist courteously with people who may have different mindsets is an art, and Torunn does this very well. It's possible for most of us, if we control the natural instinctive belief that one's own ideas are the only right ones.
@pettytalk saidWhat do you think about the topic of male midwives?
