How much was it?

Ive heard that argument before and the reply is simple. Most computer parts last 3 to 5 years (or more if you have good ventilation and surge supression). After that it is obsolete anyhow and the matter of petty components costing $30 or so is irrelevant.
In any case the decision to go with Dell has little to do with cost and finance. Most financially we ...[text shortened]... of the financial cost. Watching every nickle and dime is what financially strapped companies do.
Originally posted by kenanthey do get viruses, why is it every major antivirus company also sells their brand for the mac? i'm under the impression their pop-up blocker is built into their browser, which is also what i.e 7 has.... mac's arn't better... we've had this debate before on here, then again, neither can you say windows is better.... this argument is like saying what's better a lamborghini or a ferrari
Also NEVER buy a second hand laptop.
Mine died recently, I am using my gf's now. I understand why they sold me that piece of crap.
I am also wondering if Macs are any better. One of my friend was telling me last night that they do not get viruses?! and they are built on better hardware.
Is that true?
I do not have a lot of money but if it will last me for a good 3-5 years I can pay up to $2000.

There was not any better, if there was I would buy that one because I've changed 3 laptops and a desktop over one year and a half. I just could not stand it anymore.
If this turns out to be problematic, I will never buy any computer for the rest of my life.
Originally posted by coquetteI really know what I bought is a fine quality, most probably top quality product, I would be very disappointed if it turns out the opposite. I do not think it will though.
i've had a Gateway laptop for three years and it's been fine.
my desk computer is a new Dell. It's been fine.
i will NEVER EVER purchase another Sony product as long as I live.
My father bought a Sony TV abroad in 1980 and it is still in a fine condition. Even after 27 years!
My laptop is made in Japan. They produce some quality stuff, unlike China.
I do not understand why you do not want to but a Sony product. For example this one is made out of carbon fiber and only weighs 4 pounds, and has an extremely fast processsor. None of other Dell, HP, Fujitsu etc... even come close consdiering these attributes.
I apologise if I sound bragging or like a Sony sales person, I am just very excited about it.
fair enough. had a Sony computer and they loaded it with stuff that I didn't want. it was a lot of gigs gone to things i would have had to pay for and didn't ever use.
sony was the super greatest company for audio for a long time i guess, and then for tvs and other things too.
lately, all i hear are complaints though, and so maybe i'm not being fair. i don't mean that their products don't work, but mostly people complain that their stuff isn't very user friendly - like buttons, menus, small details and things like that. i'll take it back because i'm not a tekki so i have no idea what i'm talking about. sorry
