What about attaching drums to the wall? That would give you a more satisfying sound, and at the same time be more gentle on your head.

Neck injuries from head banging generally occur as a result of the backlash. Try a firmer wall; brick walls generally create a minimum of neck injuries.

Two by Four is a peice of lumber, usually 8 or 16 feet long... but you can cut it down to 2 or 4 feet long.

2 inches by 4 inches lumber.
