If it hasn't been cleared up yet: Around the time he was banned, probably a month or two before, there was some certainty that he was around 1900-2000 FIDE player and official after someone got his name.
I wouldn't be surprised if he still has an account here, either.

I really don't want to argue about this. It's not that important to me.
I guess it is all relative. In my mind 1900 ELO is pretty darn good.

Has he lost his mind?
Can he see or is he blind?
Can he walk at all,
Or if he moves will he fall?
Is he alive or dead?
Has he thoughts within his head?
We'll just pass him there
why should we even care?
He was turned to steel
in the great magnetic field
When he travelled time
for the future of mankind
Nobody wants him
He just stares at the world
Planning his vengeance
that he will soon unfurl
Now the time is here
for Iron Man to spread fear
Vengeance from the grave
Kills the people he once saved
Nobody wants him
They just turn their heads
Nobody helps him
Now he has his revenge
Heavy boots of lead
fills his victims full of dread
Running as fast as they can
Iron Man lives again!

For players like me, down in the 1300 bracket, some of us study hard, try our very best, suffer losses often, and get no attention or recognition for our efforts, except for other lowly 1300 players. Along comes Cheater 31 and is bemoaned by many as beinga marter of sorts, at the least, less than ill intentioned. Please justify any consideration he deserves. And don't tell me about forgiveness. He gives a bad smell to all the high rated players, and the wrong ideas to the weaker minded players. Don't bring him back, nice guy???or not.

Those are the players that truly love the game in my mind. They could easily come online and do what IM did and cheat, but they actually like and respect the game enough to play their way and hope for the best.

Not to throw a wet blanket on all this Survivor RHP stuff, but isn't banning mostly ceremonial anyway? If he decided to come back under a new account, how would anyone know? That's assuming he got a new IP, which isn't usually all that hard to get, depending on your ISP.
But anyway, back to the thread...Burn him! Burn him!
Originally posted by Evil Pawn 666Don't worry, no one is going to bring him back, this isn't really a serious discussion. It's just a discussion because no one wants to talk about the worlds largest ball of aluminum foil. I don't know why though, aluminum foil might be just as good.

Originally posted by PhlabibitI can't remember which one of the great masters it was, but one of them once said something like: "1200 is the best level to be at chess." the idea being that anything over that requires sacrifices and giving into obsession, thus significantly decreasing the quality of your life. I think we can all nod in agreement to that, and get back to our obsession.

and I really can see where that was coming from. the higher you get, the more you have to sacrifice, and the more your brain hurts. getting better takes just an incredible amount of suffering you must be willing to endure, and for a long time. it is hard. which is one of the reasons why people take the cheating so badly. cheating is a flip of the finger at all the hours we've ever suffered beside the board (and everybody suffers, irrelevant of ratings). sure it's insignificant in the grand scheme of things, as it's just a game, but it'll piss off people all the same. royally.
"chess is mental torture," like kasparov said.
