Whilst I must admit that I feel some blacks get rather obsessed with the word at times and should learn to loosen up a bit when it is not used in a deliberately derrogative or insulting manner making pointless racial slurs is simply not necessary and age does not come into this.
The manner it was used by Chessisvanity was as a deliberate insult. I believe there is some controversy over how blacks in America can use the word for "self-empowerment" but if it is used by white folk they claim racism. The word should simply be banned for everybody or allowed for everybody.

I don't know Chessisvanity or the other joepesci guy who was spamming the forum but one cannot expect this sort of behaviour from adults even while drunk.

I fail to see the actual chess in this topic - 'Only chess', was it not?

I haven't read it, so I cannot draw any conclusions from this specific event. But I do find that too many users here on this site are over-sensitive with respect to wordings used. Often I think that in writings racism, perversion, criminal inclinations are, like beauty, in the eyes of the behoulder. How about a bit of tolerance, and ignoring the potentially bad intention (as we do with pets and should do sometimes with kids when they behave badly).

I have already alerted the original topic as not belonging in Only Chess.

You can do so also, and once a mod comes along, they'll move it where it belongs.

The chessisvanity threads were so out of character that I assumed that someone else was doing them from his computer. Maybe he left himself logged on on a public computer. If this is the case then perhaps he will learn how to use such computers safely before he leaves himself open to credit card or other fraud.

excuse me? why should we ignore racism? the guy was not only a racist, but also was argueing that everything that moves, including children should be destroyed in Iraq, and it should have been the same in Vietnam. he was just disgusting.

You appear to be arguing for the sake of arguing. It appears if you read the whole thread that he had done this often in many forums also stating that people should be killed in Iraq. What is amazing if all of this is true is that he should have been permanently excluded rather than a 2 year forum ban. He was allowed too many strikes.

2010!! is that reasonable?

after all....he was an ok guy.
How did you find out about the 2-1/2 year forum ban?

Anyway, considering CIV's long history of repulsive posting, 2-1/2 years isn't long enough. We need some Judge Roy Bean type mods! 😉
