Why don't you guys just stop eating so much? Honest question - I've always wondered why they say they're so depressed because they eat so much, but refuse to cut their meals down even the slightest amount.

So there, figure that one out McGuyver!!
And I think you're wrong - I see fat people shoving their faces full of 99c double cheeseburgers at McDonalds all the time.

Originally posted by cmsMasterI wonder this myself, since I have no problem maintaining a slim figure, it seems like it should be no problem for anyone else.
Well, ok, but that doesn't answer my question. I mean, you get the flu and you lose 10 pounds, so obviously eating less = not being so fat. And not being so fat = being happier (and sometimes sexier).
With my 37 years of wisdom, here is what I have come up with:
People who have a weight problem eat for emotional reasons (unless there is a medical issue). It might make them feel happy or relieve stress, something like that.
I personally eat to sustain my life. Eating and going to the bathroom are a hassle, but you have to do them to live. It feels like a waste of time. This is not the case for overweight people, I think? 😕

I don't know but a ginormous breakfast sure gives you that extra kick in the morning to get moving/excercising 😛
Originally posted by cmsMasterIan68 is correct my friend. The problem with accumulating excessive body fat is more from not getting enough exercise than overeating. The reason you are slim is because you are young and active. When a person gets older their metabolism slows down and they usually become less active.

For all you 'older folks' out there, you can still get in shape if you just start exercising and eating less food with carbohydrates & fat.
Slimming down does tend to make you more attractive.

Because I disagree.

To point: if a person simply stops eating for several days the body will go into "shock" and start burning muscle instead of the "precious fat"! Yeah, the body will save the fat and burn the muscle because it thinks it's starving. Exercise is sooo important.
Originally posted by arrakisYeah, but muscle weighs more than fat, so the scale should still be nice. And after a good week of starving the pounds will start dropping fast!! 😛

obesity is mostly the parents fault, they dont feed their children right; then before you know it the kid is a fat grown up and he never stood a chance because by kindergarten he was already three sizes too big, and the kids made fun of him throughout school

Why don't you try putting on several pounds and see how tough that is for you.
Maybe it's just as tough for them to lose a few pounds.
