Originally posted by PalynkaI've read up on this and it seems a good start, and long overdue. Many parts of the country, though, remain in astonishing poverty (astonishing from an American point-of-view), particularly in the South.
Jesus Christ, in what age do you live in?
Do you know that Mexico's anti-poverty program (Progresa, now renamed to Oportunidades) is a commonly cited success case and a worldwide benchmark?

I'm the one telling you how it is. 😏
Your FACTS are PR FLUFF, that's how it is.
They have no real plan to tackle huge unemployment, inequitable income distribution and descrimination against the Amerindian peasants. If nothing is done, you'll end up with another Venezuala on your hands with some inbred hick form the Peasant Alternative Party equalizing everyone's assets, spreading the wealth, eliminating one of the US's largest trading partners and sticking Rusian missles in our backyard.
I know that Mexico must deal with thousands of impoverished Guatemalans and other Central Americans who cross the porous border looking for work in Mexico, but, how do they think we feel in the US. Put up some fences.
What really cracks me up is the thriving drug cartels. Mexico is a major producer and distributor of ecstasy, significant money-laundering center, major supplier of heroin and largest foreign supplier of marijuana and methamphetamine to the US. Sweet!
Tell me how it is again you stupid sardine eating mook.

According to the CIA, the HUGE divide is almost the same as the US. Their estimates of the Gini Index are 46.1 and 45, respectively. Perhaps they are inadequate, but not more than the country you chose to reside in.
Better yet, nobody is doing anything about it
Wrong. As I've shown, things are being done, and being done well. Changing the education levels of a country cannot be done overnight.

The Progresa program has led to more research papers than any other single program I know. If it's PR, then it's backed by research, not fluff and comedy caps.

None that YOU have heard of, considering you spend your time shooting pigs with a sniper rifle. Which is about as entertaining and awe-inspiring as shooting sardines in a barrel.
Venezuala [...] Rusian missles
Maybe you could have something to gain by enrolling in some of those Mexican educational programs.
That's how it is. Now tell me how it is being shown the FACTS by a stupid sardine eating mook.

Especially the discrimination against the Amerindians and the influx of Guatemalans. But the Guatemalans are mostly on their way to the US. There's nothing for them in Mexico. The drug cartel bit is right on also.
This is all in line with what I said about the far south being the worst of the poverty in Mexico.
Originally posted by PalynkaSpend some time driving around the country, there are kids everywhere you look running around bare foot, run down buildings, battered cars and obvious signs of poverty. Statistics are fluff. The FACT remains that Mexico, despite overcoming some very significant economic hurdles, has a intimidating lack of social infrastructure. You can't go 15 feet without bumping into some barefoot kid selling a piece of art fair crap while dressed in a burlap poestAtoe sack.

You've demostrated nothing. A social program focused on food is not Mexico's primary problem. Housing, underutilized labor, inequality, inconsistant education and practical education is the problem. Mexico has damn near 5 growing seasons and tremendous agricultural potential. You're locked onto the wrong thing.
How the Hell does my shooting of little piggies with high caliber weapons have anything to do with tackling unemployment, etc... If there's a program, it is ineffective and will become continue to struggle under the burden of rural to urban migration.
Edit: You're a sausage fluffer.
