...smoking

For 15 years Marlboro was my best friend, smokers were my family, the smoking area my home, and my first cigarette of the day was heaven.

On November 28th, I smoked my last one.

No real point to this other than I'm bored and I felt like writing about it. 😛

I will say stick with it. I only smoked for 8 years (Marlboros) but I quit 9 years ago and it was one of the best things I have ever done.
You will go through about 2 months of difficultly with breathing (I did) and the crap comes up out of your lungs....but after that, you will never have felt better.

BEST of luck to you. Awesome step to take, man.

yeah, excellent work, mi amigo. I quit for about 2 years now and love it. the first week is the worst, but it gets better. the hardest part for me was to quit the "comraderie" cigarette. i was a full time smoker but when I quit, the biggest urge to start again came when it was in the form of a "friendship" cigarette, like "let's step outside and grab a smoke..."

your will to quit will be tested in your weakest moments. the secret is: don't smoke. easy as pie.

most smokers will infact, superficially support your desicion, but they'll also be happy to give you a cig if you ask.

also, it helped me not to think of it as "quitting" because the term has negative connotations. no one wants to be a "quitter". it helped me to think of what i was gaining- like the ability to breath, smell things, taste food, enjoy physical activity, not having to leave meals immediately after eating in order to step outside and satisfy the monkey. not to mention the increased happiness of your non-smoking friends and family. it's a great thing to break your addiction to nicotine. well done and keep it up.

I used to use that line quite a bit myself.

Than there's "Quitters never win".

And my favorite "Quitters never win, winners never quit, but if you don't win and you don't quit, you're an idiot"

Very very wise decision. Smoking is the most filthy, disgusting and egoistic behaviour.

i don't understand how it's egoistic. it's an Addiction to nicotine. an addiction is something that controls a person's ego, makes it do things...

It is egoistic because most smokers don't care or don't have a clue what the smoke does to neighbouring persons. It is impossible to breath clean air with a smoker nearby. So one or more people have to breath in second rated air because there is one person that has decided to pollute the air for his or her own satisfaction.
