Well done. Its a good thing to give up just don't start again. I would hope you are pleased wityourself for it. I know people who i think should. One question how did you kick the habit?
It also helped that I got sick. I got a pretty bad case of bronchitis which let to cough syncope (blacking out from coughing). Kind of demonstrated how bad smoking was for me. Also made me realize that smoking wasn't going to just effect my health later in life, but it was going to do it right now as a heathly 32 year old. I was already planning on quitting. So, I moved my quit date up from Dec 31 to Nov 28.
Now, I feel better than I ever have. Finally free....

It is egoistic because most smokers don't care or don't have a clue what the smoke does to neighbouring persons. It is impossible to breath clean air with a smoker nearby. So one or more people have to breath in second rated air because there is one person that has decided to pollute the air for his or her own satisfaction.
It powerful enough that smokers twist their logic into why it is ok for them to smoke. They will even convince them selves that smoking is good for them to some degree. They will think that smoking will help clear up a cough, clear up their sinesis, etc.
I used to do it all the time. No ego involved, just an addition that was in control of me much more than I realized.

Than there's "Quitters never win".
And my favorite "Quitters never win, winners never quit, but if you don't win and you don't quit, you're an idiot"
Beggars can't be choosers and Cheggers can't be boozers (as we learn from Keith Chegwin's battle against alcoholism).
Irrelevant and only meaningful to a British audience, I'm afraid.

Originally posted by Aikoright, smokers are a$$holes because they don't care and will smoke regardless of the feelings of people around them-- and while I'm not making an excuse for this behavior, it has less to do with the smoker's ego wanting to impose it's smoke on others than it does with the addictive effects of nicotine. Nicotine is a highly addictive drug. people think of an addict as someone all cracked out in a burned down house huddled around a pipe... but smokers are addicts and when that urge hits... it must be satisfied- or at least that's what the nicotine will tell you. an addiction creates a self-propelling need that grows with each installation of the drug. the only way to kill it is to starve it out.

but when i was a smoker, i was aware of others dislike of smoke, and tried to go outside when i could, or smoke away from others... but sometimes you just have to because it's an addiction. there is no way to "deal" with an addiction. you can only meet it head on and break it.
stay the course St. Nick!

...smoking
For 15 years Marlboro was my best friend, smokers were my family, the smoking area my home, and my first cigarette of the day was heaven.
On November 28th, I smoked my last one.
No real point to this other than I'm bored and I felt like writing about it. 😛
