yeah, excersize is great, losing weight or not, but dropping the amount of food is simply the easiest way really. and metabolism schmetabolism - the body simply can't make up the calories out of thin air. I think it's just another excuse (although maybe a scientific one). there were no fatties with low metabolism or 'genetic obesity' in the concentration ca ...[text shortened]... ur 50s or 60s.
and that said, I'm gonna have the big plate of bolognese now.
In fact my caloric intake is generally right around what my basel metabolic rate says it should be, yet I've gained about 40 lbs in the last year.

I'm rated 22 at the squash club and I challenged the number 12. If I had beaten him I would've moved nicely up the rankings, but he beat me 3-2.
I'M PISSED!
Edit: That reminds me, did we ever establish how you actually got onto the court? Do they winch you over the top or lube you up in give you a fast waddling start at the door? No wonder you keep moving up the ranks, you must body block half the court.
Originally posted by dueceryour baseline is obviously way lower than you think, and his is on the money. yours just is very different. the reasons why don't matter, you'll still be dead or badly disabled in your 50-60s unless you cut the excess weight. I'm sure you know loads of people who've had that happen, it's not like it was a freak occurrence. and they all look like they were doing okay, until they stopped in the middle of a sentence and forgot how to speak. - how many fat old guys you know? that's right, there aren't any. the really old geezers are always very skinny.

I find it's easiest for me to just eat less of everything. you can still eat the same crap, just less, and it'll make a huge difference. going totally 'healthy' just induces binge eating the unhealthy stuff for me. on that department I'm taking it with baby steps. an orange here, a salad there. then some grilled sausage to prevent getting too healthy. but I am taking the steps.

My oldest brother and I have the same body types, live active lifestyles and work in jobs that require a lot of physical activity. We both have struggled our whole lives with excess weight (I'm not talking 100 lbs, more like 50). Our other brother and sister grew up in the same house with the same socialization, and work jobs with less activity, and are thin. Our mother was heavy, our father was thin. There is a lot to genetics. The question is how much of my wieght is nurture and how much is nature.

then again, if you don't mind having only 50-60 year life span, the end is probably gonna be swift. half a century stuffing yourself in junk food free-fall, until you hit the ground.
or, there's always the roller girl squad.
