And as for the Passion of the christ:
My quick review: Rubbish.
No character building, no witty dialogues, no tension. Basically a cinematic miracle of failure to amuse.
And besides, I guessed the ending after the first 5 minutes!
It wasn't shocking and it wasn't disturbing.
Disturbing is the market place bombing scene in 'The quiet American'. Shocking is WW2 footage of people clearing up concentration camps.
The film wasn't anti-semetic. It was (attempting) to portray the happenings in a certain time piece. If you watch "The great escape" would you say it was anti-German propaganda? If you watch "Spartacus" is it anti-Italian? Well, you get the point.
It wasn't too violent. Yes, somebody gets a whipping. It's not a pleasant thing. It is however an intricate part of the story. It wasn't like it was added, but had nothing to do with the plot. Sex, violence and drugs use in films, if they serve the plot, are never too-anything. They just are. Like dialogue, shading and movement.
The film did have good points. I like films in which languages are spoken in the tongue where it's set. I thought that was well done.
There's nothing worse than hearing a German general talk English with a phony German accent, and I can't think of anything worse than Jesus speaking in a John Wayne like accent: "Judas, there just ain't enough room in Jerusalem for the both of us."
Pilate was well played. I liked him.

People who laugh and make a joke out of something serious are actually hiding from their true feelings and are not mature enough to even have an intellectual conversation with.
I find many things funny: People hurting themselves, people stuttering, life's little ironies, being dumped, death, funerals and terrible things happening in hospitals and at weddings.
But, the thing I find funniest is people taking themselves too seriously.
Cheer up dear, you are going to die. Just like me.

There was a flood.
And as the water's rose like shite in a blocked toilet, little boats sailed around picking all the people up.
People standing on top of cars and people stuck up trees. One small boat passed a man, standing on the roof of a church. The water was up to his knees.
"Climb aboard sir." Said the captain of the little wooden boat.
" ...[text shortened]... God smiled at the man: "I sent three ships to save you, what more do you bloody want?"

But also: humour.
Have you ever seen the film: "The meaning of life" by Monty Python?
Everything passes the revue. Except what life is really about. Having as much fun as possible.
In my case: No matter what the cost.

Difference is Asher, many on this site do.
Perhaps you can get us a flash site making fun of Lady Diana's car crash. Mandela in prison would also be funny. While you're at it, the spanish bomb blasts were also pretty humerous. But then 09/11 is ...[text shortened]... ely VILE ways imaginable. It is an accepted historic fact.
You are cheapening their deaths. [/b]
Isn't the most important thing that now we are talking about an important issue, not who is or isn't offended?
Bad Bishop.
