@drewnogal saidWine is best drunk with a meal, or else sipped sparingly throughout an evening.
I’m thinking that it’s time for me to permanently give up alcohol?
Having abstained from alcohol for 5 months I really enjoyed a few glasses of Shiraz on Christmas Eve but felt so unhealthy for the next few days with a gloomy mood, lethargy and slight headache.
@ghost-of-a-duke saidThree times in my life I decided to abstain from eating for a week, I was very tired and would try anything that was recommended. I managed all three times without any difficulty except for the first three days of the seven days, as I had a terrible headache. It isn't as difficult as it may seem though if you follow the rules - in my case a book which described day by day how you would feel and what happened in your body. I say this because - apart from many other interesting things - what I longed most for was coffee and cheese sandwich - and chewing. When I finished the week, I was allowed only to eat small pieces and I broke my fast with a plum, tiny pieces. The first day after the fast I threw myself on coffee/milk and a cheese sandwich - and the coffee tasted absolute poison, and I thought it may very well be.

@drewnogal saidGood luck, Drew. If you felt good for five months, so why not?

I would struggle to go 24 hours.
@ghost-of-a-duke saidA week is easier than the first 24 hours. 🙂
Abstain from eating? For a week?
I would struggle to go 24 hours.
@drewnogal saidI practised fasting when I was 35-40 years old, it was recommended to me by my friend who started before me. The purpose is to rinse your body and clean it of bad substances. At the time of my first fast, I was extremely tired and I thought it would be worth a try. At that time fasting was often talked about and practised, not among people in general but health enthusiasts. The first time did wonders with me.
Why would you want to fast for even one day, let alone a week?
