I get it. You are using a pirated version of windows xp that's why you cannot get windows updates. FYI the trojan (along with the zeus rootkit) was on a V-Bulletin forum compromised a few weeks ago.
DO YOU KNOW WHAT AN IFRAME IS? DUMBASSES WITHOUT AN ANTIVIRUS WHO SURF USING FIREFOX/SAFARI/CHROME WHO VISIT THIS FORUM ARE INFECTED. DON'T LET NOBODY FOOL YOU!!!!
Jeez, I didn't know people are this computer-illiterate.
Ps: you really shouldn't make so many assumptions in your "debate". There are more reasons than piracy for not allowing windows updates. Also, why not ask hopscotch what his computer background is rather than using your assumptions to launch ad hominem attacks.

Anyway, I've given up on this guy. His posts are starting to get more and more ridiculous. "Everyone who visits this forum unprotected has a virus". Rofl.
This dude assumes that firefox is immune to viruses and claimed I got the trojan warning for surfing with IE. That is plain wrong. Read the following link for trojans infecting firefox through addons.

I have no antivirus installed, use the internet regularly, use a web based email service, visit forums, download torrents constantly, and I have had no security/virus issues since around 1991 when I copied Space Quest 3 on some floppies from a friend who had a virus.
If that doesn't fry your brain enough: I have Windows Update turned off too.

It's called "knowing how to internet".
-no antivir
-windows update & firewall turned off (I've got a hw wall though)
-using adamantly ie just to piss the ff fanboys off.
results: I remember having one virus about a decade ago, for a few minutes. self-induced of course, for running knowingly something of high risk.
some spam, but then again my email addy has been online for any bot to harvest since the 90s. and will continue to be.
that's it really. but I guess I'm still a computer illiterate moron and a liar because some underaged loudmouth kid on da holy intarwebz thinks so.

So your position is if you run say, Trend Micro and then say, spybot, and spybot comes up with detections that TM missed, TM is so good anything spybot uncovers is nothing but false positives?
Come with your PHD's and DD's in computer science to this thread and see documentation from mozilla themselves. Thread 133952
Originally posted by PalynkaGood question. I run Trend Micro, costs about 40 bucks, supposed to be one of the best but does take up a lot of resources, so does Norton and Macafee. Freeware versions usually use less resources, like Spybot, I started using that one around 2003 and it started out with about 5000 definitions or so. The latest version is up to 1,200,000 +! Another one is AVG, they have a free version and paid. Superantispyware is another freebie, good reviews and Malwarebytes has a freebie also. Those are the ones I have played around with.
For those of us who still prefer to have an AV, which is the best one if I want something very light on resources?
