Update:

I had the second jab yesterday at 13:15 and for the next few hours my anxiety levels jumped several points. However all I had were the standard reported side effects of fatigue (felt like I’d been drugged with sleep drug) and clamminess in the night. Other than that I feel great. The relief is quite a thing.

I think you will be very restricted without the second. It wouldn't make sense to take only the first. How ill did it make you?
When I look back I wasn’t in a good place. The last 14 months have taken their toll on everyone and I am no exception. Having some hard core conspiracy theorists in my immediate family doesn’t help as the fear and anxiety which loved ones can spread gets under your shields like other people don’t.

You've protected yourself, and others.

Yes there’s an element of that. I thought long and hard about the whole thing.

- The vaccines are somewhat experimental but nevertheless the risk of a serious reaction is very small
- I’m suspicious about being required to have these every year in order to travel but I think the administration and cost will take this away in time
- I had to consider the state of my own mental and physical condition when I had jab one - I was not in a good place due to work and all sorts.
- herd immunity is a thing and it’s worth fighting for until we are in a place to live with the virus, which we will have to, soon I think.

Anyway I’m relieved I’ve done it and even more relieved that I didn’t get those awful weeks of side effects and worrying what I might have done to myself

I hesitated for a while for reasons I couldn't ignore but eventually decided I should take the vaccine for other reasons and for other people. I lost touch with my friends the past year, and without vaccination that would have continued.

When the 1st jab nearly killed me.

Thoughts?
From what I've read and what I heard.......
If you reacted badly to a first jab, there is a chance you were infected with COVID.
Because you already generated some antibodies.
As a rule, 2nd jabs always have more serious effects than the first one.
If you are infected before your first jab, then the first jab will feel like a 2nd one.
