The post that was quoted here has been removed"It nearly killed me" is a turn of phrase, Duchess64. Many people, including here in Indonesia, feel discomfort after a vaccination. To say "It nearly killed me" is simply ironic. It's an idiom. Here in the city where I live, the expression they would use that is closest in meaning would be "Mati saya!" which also means things like "I was shocked" and "I felt terrible".
