There is precident but not in the US, but in Canada. Remember how the Inuit or one of the Eskimo tribes got a huge land grant from Canada a few years ago? Not sure how autonomous they are though.
But like Buffy Sainte Marie says in her song "Now that the Buffalo is gone": "its all in the past you can say, but its still going on here today".
I would agree with that, the Lakota have been put on land you can't even grow scrub brush very well, it wasn't their original territory, we considered THAT territory to be way to valuable to allow the indians to own it. The original territory had everything they needed to sustain themselves and what do they have where they are now? Piss-poor ground with a short growing season and not much in the way of animal life to hunt. No wonder the suicide rate is so high, the lifespan so short. They are put in an untenable situation by an uncaring US government. You can imagine the great government offices trying to come up with a plot of land for the Lakota: "Where are we going to put them?" "Well, there is this totally worthless land up north, we can say honestly we gave them just as much land as they lost to us..."

Then everything will be wonderful
well of course it will be if you are an Indian, black, Hispanics, or ex-con.
As for the rest of you, you may then know how it is to be a current Indian, black, Hispanics, or ex-con.
