@divegeester saidErm. During, and partly so bad because of. A bit of historical knowledge and realisation goes both ways in this discussion.
That might be because it occurred after WW1.

@drewnogal saidNah. IMO and E, the Boomers are ready, willing, and very much eager to let the Gen-X's, Gen-Y's and Millennials die.
You make it sound like old people are ready, willing and eager to die?
Of course, those same Boomers are the ones mainly voting for the 2020 governments in, well, at least three countries relevant to me. Suspicious? No, I'm beyond that.
@drewnogal saidOf course, the Tories have been stripping the NHS butt naked well before that. Blame Corona if you will - it is a factor - but the NHS would've been struggling under any of David, Theresa and Boris no matter how healthy the lower classes.
The biggest problem here in the UK is that the NHS has been close to breaking point, once in the spring and then around Christmas.

@drewnogal saidI guarantee you if you turn up at A&E you'll be in within a matter a minutes, happened to me a few months ago before coming here. There was a news report saying to avoid going to hospital because they were so busy, this was back in early November. I went with a bad foot a couple of days after the report thinking i was going to have to wait a week but no, I was out of the door after being seen by a very bored looking doctor within about 30 minutes.
The biggest problem here in the UK is that the NHS has been close to breaking point, once in the spring and then around Christmas. Before the pandemic it took about 4 hours to be fully assessed at our local A&E depts. Now we hear of ambulances queuing outside, waiting to get sick people admitted and then finding that there are no available beds with up to a third having bee ...[text shortened]... st six months of 2020, compared with the same period last year so people are dying at a faster rate.
The trouble with the NHS is that it has been underfunded for years and waiting lists are ridiculous, add the amount of staff off with stress or a positive covid test (who are otherwise healthy) and you have an already stretched system stretched even further.
If they were so worried about people dying of covid they would have closed the borders last March instead of letting flights in from pretty much everywhere.

“Scam”
What’s the scam? Why?
Why are the ICUs full of covid patients?
Im referring to the numbers, let's say you get sick today, wait a few days but you're not getting better so you call your gp. GP says they can't see you because of covid but sends you for a test, it's positive but you don't feel so bad. A week later you feel completely fine, finished your medication and are able to go out once your self isolation period ends, great. Two weeks after that you have a heart attack and die, or get hit by a car and die, or.. Anything else happens and you die that goes down as a covid death, because you tested positive within 28 days of dying and that is a load of old hogwash. Whatever hogwash is but it sounded good. That's the scam, not all the people in the covid deaths stats died as a result of covid, that's why they say 'with covid'.

“The Spanish Flu did nothing to stop 30 countries from fighting each other in WWI”
- WW1 started in July 1914 and finished in November 2018.
- The Spanish flu pandemic started in February 1918 and finished in April 1920.
It could be argued that pandemic may have impacted the end of the war, but it cannot be argued that it did not prevent it.
Yes basic historical knowledge is important, as is reading the thread.

@divegeester saidWhat I say is fact, no conspiracy. Why they need to have inflated death figures that's for the conspiracy theorists to debate.
Your posts read like a conspiracy theorist to me.
Different countries are reporting deaths in different ways, some like Tanzania or Laos aren't reporting them at all, regardless of what you think about the virus, the death figures should be taken with a grain of salt.
@trev33 saidYou’re not posting “facts” you're posting your opinions based on your own observations, impressions and perspectives. From those you are inferring that there is a conspiracy to inflate death numbers, I.e. a “scam” as you put it, in fact.

I don’t buy this “I’m only posting facts” “do your own research” bollox. It’s a nasty fuking disease and people are dying from it when they would normally live. There is no conspiracy to take away your freedom.
My Niece is an LPN and was telling they said on the evening news that there were no cases that day. In reality there had been 2 and the health services department were calling them 5 and 6 times a day for up dates, and they had the cases in the morning but they didn't get reported. Intentional or simply a mistake?

@divegeester saidIt's a fact if you test positive today and die of a heart attack in 25 days it count as a covid death. If someone can rationaly explain to me why you have to quarantine for 7-14 days after a positive test but if you die within 28 days of anything it's a covid death I'll happily take back my comments.

Im not denying that there's a virus or that it has caused the early deaths of some but the way they report the deaths in the UK can only produce numbers higher than the reality. Why not test someone when they die, positive test, covid death?
I never mentioned freedom, I feel quite free here thanks, bars, restaurants, beaches, markets etc... Nightclubs even, all open here and busy. Have yet to see someone struggling in the street looking ill and the heath service here isn't the best and homelessness is an issue.
