Such an hilarious thread. The moral of the tale is watch the game, and only write about it afterwards!
Coming back from 3-0 down, holding back the white tide for 30 mins of injury time, outfoxing Milan in the shootout....of course Liverpool were the better side.
Being the better side isn't just about playing the best soccer. It's also about having the guts and determination to win, especially in the seemingly unsurmountable face of adversity.
Well done the Reds! You did this Liverpool lad proud tonight! 😏

Benitez then, what did he do:
Starts with Kewell in the hole behind Baros instead of the usual 4-2-3-1 with either Biscan or Hamann playing as one of the "2" alongside Alonso. Kewell is forced off so he brings on Smicer to hold down the right and try and fill some of the space Maldini was romping into for the first half hour.
Goes from bad to worse though as Alonso and Gerrard get sucked onto Pirlo and Gattuso leaving an ocean of space for Kaka to run into between them and the Liverpool defence. How many times in the first half did Kaka pick up the ball and run at the Liverpool defence unchallenged?! Half-time Benitez takes off Finnan (and not Traoré!!), sticks Hamann alongside Alonso which frees up both Gerrard and Alonso to play their more natural game. Liverpool immediately start passing and keeping the ball, score three goals.
Not content, Benitez has one final masterstroke by swapping Gerrard and Smicer after Serginho comes on for Milan. How many times did Gerrard tackle Serginho? Only twice did Serginho get away; had Smicer stayed down the right against Serginho I think the Brazilian would've run 'em ragged.

They did a gresat comeback against milan, first game Milan-Deportivo 3-0,return match Deportivo wins 4-0, deja vu................
Originally posted by RavelloHmm, can't remember who the Deportivo manager was but it wasn't Benitez. Benitez was at Valencia prior to Liverpool. (Another great game that one tho!)

EDIT: Stands pointing at Liverpool in a kind of strange, manic Mancunian way.
Yeah yeah yeah. Blooming scousers. Had to go one better. Not satisfied with Man Utd being the ONLY EVER TEAM to come from behind to win a European cup final, they had to come from 3 goals behind.
Haha. Only joking. I'm a scouser for tonight. But tonight only.
Well done and pats on backs all round the Merseyside.

Milan did very little in the second half, and as such weren't the better team. Now if you want to talk about penalties resulting in injustices, then lets talk about the FA cup final a couple of weeks ago.
