Questionable circumstances, to say the least.
That Gerard penalty was a non-entity, as Gatuso never touched the lad. Let's face it, if something similar had happened to an English team, and moreso against the Italians, then we'd never have heard the end of it.
And, by the by, when did it become the norm in matches to whistle the opposition constantly, with no justification or provocation? Is it just me, or has the idea of sportsmanship entirely left the football by now?

Originally posted by DOlivier2004I don't think any serious contact was made. Anyway, not enough to excuse Gerard from a charge of bringing the game into disrepute by diving like he'd been shot. And with all the whining the Sasanach tend to go in for about those filthy foreigners, cheating and diving like mad... sure, they're the worst of the bunch.

And, on a side point, isn't there a rule which states that the goal keeper must not move before the kick is taken? If so, I didn't hear the commentators mention it last night. But during the FA Cup final, the referee specifically warned each keeper.
And wasn't that Pole on the edge on the six-yard box for a few of those, never mind moving...he should have stayed on his line, according to the rules.
If only old Brucey had been playing, the tactics for Milan would have been simple: get the Berlusca to slip him a tenner before kick-off, and settle it there and then.
What with all that, AND the favourable line calls in the first half, Liverpool were rather fortunate, and both fans and players highly unsporting. But then, that's football.
And, by the way, that's coming from a neutral (or, even more specifically, from someone whose most despised side are A.C. Milan).
Anyway, two of the goals were fair game, and well played by Liverpool on getting back into the match. And Milan truly did bottle it. So it's not the greatest injustice of all time. The weaker side can indeed often enough win in this sport. That's the way it works.

I hate the way they're always changing the rules in football. But, if the rule states he can move along the line now, which I might suggest is a nonsense, then he still left his line before kicks were taken, which is certainly evident on the last spot kick.
Poor show on the officials' part.
Anyway- dubious means.
Still, they won, square, if not fair, which needed mentioning, as the English press might forget.
Anyway, I won't begrudge Liverpool the victory, they've been waiting long enough.
[b]Enjoy the party, to all you fans. Congratulations, LFC!
