I will try Flax....I take acidiphulus...heard of the benefits?
Turns out my digestion was all out of whack. Add fiber and clean things out. I do a couple of weeks on with fiber, acidiphulus, multi vitamin, flax and omega 3 oils, and a calcium with D, and then 5 to 6 weeks off. Works great, saves money, and my immune system is back up to speed.

Originally posted by SunburntWhen I was your age I had four kids under the age of 7 and I was anemic. Didn't help that I'd had a racing heart since I was seven years old myself! My kidneys were not functioning properly either. So it took several doctors over a 40 year period to finally get things working right. I was like a new person for each thing that was adjusted. But age is against me now. BTW, when you said "protein", were you referring to meat? Those protein liquids were banned, I think. They were causing liver damage.
Hmm. Ok. Well, even when I exercise devotedly and eat like a champ, I still get run down and sick. I drink water all day from bottles, always have. I think it must be stress, I don't know.

I will keep taking the vitamins til they run out, then go to just the multivitamin. You must have ...[text shortened]... Sometimes I eat nothing but protein and a V-8 all day. I know I need more veggies and fruits.
Originally posted by SunburntYeah. I take protein shakes, vitamines and creatine. (gym, new obsession in addition to chess π). I can feel the difference. My kidneys could feel the difference soon too, though π
I just started taking supplements. I did my research. I take 6 plus a multivitamin. I'm doing this to boost my immune system. Since I've aged, I just am not as healthy or energetic as I used to be. I've noticed a change and I'm only 36.
Seriously, what do you think? Do vitamins make a big difference? Do you take vitamins and if so, have you noticed any change in your energy/health?
They are expensive π.

I'm a healthy eater. I don't eat much in the way of preserved food or snacks. I just wonder if the vitamins are worth it. I'm going to experiment over time to see what, if anything, really matters.

and yet i prefer woman.
what is your normal diet? it's sound as if you're either not eating enough or you're not eating enough energy giving foods.

I think you will conclude the extra supplements will not help if you already eat healthy.
Heres one little example that i looked up for you (i know it only concerns breast cancer and not health in general, but still...):
"Conclusions Large intakes of vitamin C or E did not protect women in our study from breast cancer. A low intake of vitamin A may increase the risk of this disease; any benefit of vitamin A supplements may be limited to women with diets low in vitamin A."

Depends what we are talking about, every human body works about the same (appart from woman-men. and children-adults).
"just because a study says x product is useless for 90% of the public doesn't mean that isn't in the 10%."
So are you saying these studys are useless cuz ull never know if you yourself are part of the 10 or 90 percent?
If a product x is bad for 90 percent of the ppl that tested it, its probably better if you yourself wont take it either.
Also, testing these things by yourself (1 person) is not going to give u any conclusions anyway, how will you know if any changes werent cause by other factors?
Like Sunburnt said herself, its probably just stress,
most likely because she has to deal with you in the forums!
heheπ

this sooooo isn't true. i'm too lazy to go into great detail but think about it. everyone has there own little things that work for them for different things. especially with food which is what i'm talking about. look at me for example i can eat as much as i want but never go above 65kg.

no i'm saying that what is ineffective for 90% might help you, you will never know unless you try.
i never used the word 'bad' i said useless. like a harmless placebo.

Still, if you or me or Sunburnt or anyone else will eat extra vitamin A, our bodys are going to dump it with the urine anyway, yours just might do it a little faster:p
i dont know...yeah, ill admit everyone has slightly different reactions to different things but in the big lines we all work the same.
"no i'm saying that what is ineffective for 90% might help you, you will never know unless you try."
No you wont know when u try either. When u try u must make sure everything goes the same as for when u didnt eat the supplements, then u can compare the two situations. This is rather impossible since your life mainly differs from day to day.
