I do have a right to criticize. Let me tell you how I came to my opinion. I was at a garage sale and this 35-40 gang thug shows up. He has full tats, tear by the eye, and the whole bit. Hes wearing a wife beater and calf socks with flip flops. He looks like he is outa oz. I start thinking "what are all these tattoos for." I came to the conclusion ...[text shortened]... just saying that the views you have at 18 should be drasticly diffrent than when you are 50.
People who go to garage sales
People who wear flip flops
People who wear calf socks, etc.
I am prejudice also, against bigots like you.

cheshire, your statement is generic and incorrect. you do have a point (kinda) but you have put it across in such a stupid manner that all you have done is upset and anger those around you and because of this you are an idiot.
i do agree that anyone who picks a pre-designed tattoo from the wall needs their head checked but those of us who took the time to have one designed specifically for us, do not fall into this category!!
a specifically designed tattoo done well and for a good reason is a statement of who you are. anyone silly enough to get one which will not be "who they are" in 10 years time, is also an idiot.
Personally I have one with my daughters name as part of the design. she will always be my daughter regardless of my age or my maturity - doesnt matter if im 17 (when i got it), 31 (now) or 50.
I agree that it is up to the personal taste of the one who decides whether to get a tattoo or not. But I also agree with Chesire's statement that your opinion does change as you get older. I always suspect that those young women with the "porn star tattoo" on their backs just above their hips may come to regret it one day.
Originally posted by MCAThe birth of my firt daughter inspired my first tatoo as well. Like you said, even when I'm 90 years old and all wrinkled she'll still be my daughter.

I've had 2 more tatoos since then and will never regret them. I'm of the same opinion about walking in and picking some random pic on a wall because it looks cool. It should have alot more meaning in it.
But either way it's an eye into a persons soul just by asking why they got that particular tatoo and what it represents to them. It's silly to judge people on external appearences.

Long term commitments are easier to enter into, if one knows there's always an "out".

Thats the piont. They are getting tattoos to conform to their peer group. Thats whats stupid. In the search for originality they think they need to enclose themselves into tighter rules of conformity.
* EDIT* I applaude those who design their own. I still dont like tattoos. Gaudy Americinism, minds working too literaly.
Saw a girl lose a finger in a conveyor belt once because of a gaudy big ring on her finger. After that all my tradesmen were required to remove their rings while working.
