@vivify saidNo, Labour have reviewed it, and have decided to do nothing. Just like with net immigration.
The government promised to "look" into the situation.
That's it.
They didn't threaten any action or even imply what they may do. They just said they'd "look".
This equals "nanny state" to you?
I’d say they have bigger fish to fry at the moment.
@divegeester saidKnowing they did "nothing" you still started this thread accusing them of a "nanny state"?

@divegeester saidRemember your "hard left socialism" claim?
What other times have I “cried wolf”?
I’m assuming you know what “crying wolf” actually means of course.
@divegeester saidYou accused Labor of a "nanny state" just because they said they'd "look" into a matter. Time passed, they did nothing, proving your "nanny state" claim false.
The claim still stands.
You still upset about being made to look silly in that thread?
That last thread proved you have no idea what socialism is. You apparently don't know what "nanny state" means either.
No wonder you started this in GF instead of Debates where this topic belongs. You're not cut out for political discourse.

@vivify saidWe are living in a nanny state irrespective; Starmer talked about government control in his keynote speech.

You gave up in the other thread in debates after dodging my multiple challenges to your claim that Labour were doing good thing ps for the NHS and your claiming that Labour were “mistaken” when they claimed they were a socialist party and the further assertion that they were using the claim as “propaganda”.
I’m happy to engage in political discourse with you, but you ran away a couple of days ago. However I do note your Ponderable-esque moaning about thread forum topicality when the opportunity suits 😉

Thread 200784
You don't know what socialism or nanny state means, and you have no problem making up claims not even remotely true. Stick to GF.
@vivify saidAs I said in the thread, several times, what I think socialism is or isn’t is irrelevant… Labour call themselves a socialist party.
Yawn.

That’s when you went full-jerk and claimed they were mistaken and using the term as propaganda, whilst largely ignoring the content of the thread.
I think you’re just hugely bent out of shape because your so-called propagandist darling Labour are messing up faster than they can walk.
What’s next from you… Labour “red” isn’t really red it’s crimson? 😄
@divegeester saidThe issue was that fans were in a queue for hours to purchase tickets at a displayed price and only discovered at checkout that the price was now 3 times what they expected. That's not right. (And is not comparable to buying tickets early for an empty flight and paying more when the flight was nearly full, due to all tickets in this instance being sold simultaneously).
Some people, including the Labour Government’s Culture Secretary, are very upset at the price of Oasis concert tickets.
For those of you not in the know, Oasis are a British 1990s rock band who disbanded in 2009 after the two founding brother Noel & Liam Gallagher fell out. They have reformed for a mini tour of 17 massive gigs across the UK. It just seems to me that the Government immediately announcing a review when the practice has been going on for years across multiple sectors, was somewhat reactionary and playing to the hall at a time when they have lots of other distractions to deal with.
Pleased to see the topic has piqued so much interest and response though.
@divegeester saidAll political parties are reactionary and pander to the issue of the day, Just look at the Tories only taking the post office scandal seriously following the success of a tv drama. (And that scandal had been going on for decades).
I agree.

@Ghost-of-a-Duke saidOne could include the Middle East crisis, the Ukraine crisis, COVID, child murders, fraud, and parties at Number 10 and all manner of politically and socially sensitive issues in your generalisation.

That ticket pricing for Oasis concerts rose immediately to the top of the list, as it happened, was worthy of note. That this Labour government made the reactionary gesture but have actually done nothing, is also of note.
@divegeester saidYou equate a means tested winter fuel payment as an attack on pensioners?
My OP is calling out this Labour nanny state taking time out from attacking pensioners in order to lever precious Parliament time protect us from online pricing of stuff no one is forced to buy.
I couldn’t care less about people who are so obsessed two 50 odd year old Manchurian coke-heads that they’ll pay silly money to relive a few 90s memories.
