Q. Is there anything you don't want to know?
A: Do critics of Chamberlain believe that France and Britain's military forces were ready and able to successfully attack and subdue Germany in 1938 or even at any point during the first 9 months of 1939?

A. What if anything is Alexander The Great's legacy?
Originally posted by wolfgang59Chamberlain became PM in May 1937 and the thing which encapsulates the reason for criticizing him, and which supposedly 'sealed the fate' of Czechoslovakia, happened in September 1938. The British Army in the UK in 1937 when Chamberlain came to power numbered approximately 120,000 and had only 500 tanks, while France - traumatized by the slaughter of WW1 and the Franco-Prussian War prior to that, was camped out behind the wall they'd built. By 1936, Germany already had at least 36 infantry and 3 armored divisions. Even the significantly bigger section of the British Army that went over to France in 1939 to take on the Germans in 1940 got completely beaten up and sent packing having had all its stuff destroyed or confiscated. The question is, would the British Army in 1938 have fared any better?

Q: When I lived in the UK, the 'golliwog" logo on jars of marmalade had been discontinued for being inappropriate. When I lived in Perth, people said that brief flu-like illnesses were "wogs". Can some difference between the UK and Australia be discerned from this?

Q. What does the adjective "Pecksniffian" mean in the UK and the USA?
Q: Have you ever composed and/or recorded any music of your own that you like very much but you've never been able to get anyone to listen to it because they don't like it at all?

Better yet and probably less expensive, if money is an issue, go to a TIY store and get a pair of hedge shears and some fungicide.
