Originally posted by CartersonQuick question. Would a cheater actually hang around the 1300-1500 level? I mean what is the point of cheating in that? I mean yeah I guess you win whatever tournament is designed for that level, but still you would think the mindframe would want to cheat and beat everyone.
After that sandbagging thing it got me to thinking on this.
Now I know some people have posted the list of 3b people, that was taken down, reasons behind it I am sure are another behind the doors thing. But I looked at that list. There were some 1300's and 1500's and stuff like that.
Quick question. Would a cheater actually hang around the 1300-1500 ...[text shortened]... nd it would appear that is the same here.
korch, as a former game mod can you explain that?
That one makes no sense.
Cheating itself does not make sense.
But another problem then does arise. After a few conversations with people it would seem this ironman person was the biggest cheat of all. How long was he on top? Quite awhile from what I have been told.
And because I guess people like talking to me and giving me information, the original cheater on this site is still here.
Why is that?
I doubt if most of RHP users are able to detect cheats. Anyway - I dont have info that Ironman has returned.
Do the game mods just pick and choose who should be gone and who gets to stay?
It has been pointed out many many times - final decision is made by site admins which are not interested to ban users without serious reason.
I could care less about any of these people but with my country going array and our Constitution not being used any more it would seem that the same kind of mentality back in the McCarthy trials is basis for banning here.
He is a communist, so put him in jail.
He is a cheater, so boot him off the site.
No one ever put public the reasons for a person being a communist back then.
And it would appear that is the same here.
Empty demagogy.

Game mods used to decide who cheats were, admins decided if there was enough info to ban them. Some users took longer for the admins to pull the trigger. Why? Who knows why, but blaming the game mods isn't very fair since when I was on the team it seemed to be the admins who held the ball up often.
Why would someone cheat and keep their rating low? Why would they cheat at all? Cheats are a mystery, nothing more boring in my mind than having a computer make your moves so you can look good at chess.
One reason to sandback and cheat is to keep your rating and win count 'believable'. If you win every game, and have a 2300 rating you're probably going to be looked at by RHP users, and if they find something fishy they will pass info to RHP through the fair play ticket. You could avoid this I guess if you keep your win count and rating somewhat believable.
Ironman played here before the game mods existed, he was the first to go when game mods started I believe.
1300 to 1500 cheats? Probably not, unless they were playing like an engine in several win games and like a wood-pushing patzer in other games.
Why is Korch no longer a game mod? Who really knows. Admins tore the team up and removed the banned list.

Current rating is probably not the rating of the player when banned - thanks to timeout victories, as a banned player can obviously not move any more.
Oh sorry about the fat joke thing. After reading the Ice Ozzy tribute thing for you I thought it was a moot point.

I have SERIOUS doubts about whether he was cheating. He might have been liar, but a cheater? His rating never got much over 1800, and he plays at gk and his rating there is between 1700-1800, that doesn't say cheater to me. I won't be convinced until I see the data for myself.
Finding it harder to mountaineer with the best on GK?
Originally posted by adramforallIf those are the same person then I don't know. But I did read Korch's blog and if I am not mistaken he said that he wasn't going to play at that site anymore due to all of the cheaters. So maybe that person is running into the same thing as well?

That really isn't what I was asking. I just didn't understand why things weren't made public. I have yet to get my subscription and was just wondering about these things. After that link to the klaus blog and then links to the jie blog and then asking around there seems to be alot of stuff people don't know.
Now I am in noway saying all of that stuff is true or I am trying to cause dissention, I just figured if i am going to pay for something I need to know what I am getting. Otherwise the wife is taking that money to the spa or something. So please help me out here, she gets enough manicures as it is!

I know he plays almost strictly team games at gk, which are much harder. My rating there averages a hundred points less there for the same reason.

Originally posted by duecerThat brings up another special point. Alot of the people, well over on that other site as well, were mad because cheaters won alot of tournaments under false pretenses by cheating.

According to the profile that person never won any tournaments.
edit, sorry, those might have been taken away and the profile modified?

I did not bring this guy into the mix, but when it was asked for a set of rules about forum banning I guess this was also a valid point to make.
