So it's Hypertension...(high blood pressure)
The nurse took my reading and said "wow your blood pressure is way too high!"
My diet is heavy in salt all of the time so that has to stop.
The drinking and smoking has to stop too.
I workout for size and weight which has to be changed to working out for fitness and a healthy weight.
They are sending me for blood work to be done and they gave me pills to lower my blood pressure and I'm starting to feel better.

@contenchess said#1. How are you going to quit smoking? I'm a smoker so I know the deal.

#2. Changing your diet and fitness routine will greatly impact your arm wrestling career.
Are you prepared for this?
@chaney3 saidI've quit smoking 3 times in my life and it was easy every time. Each time I quit I went many years without smoking. I smoke because I enjoy it but those days are now over. I just stop cold turkey. Never had a problem with quitting smoking so I can't give any advice.

Cutting out salt will be the hard one.
I love to cook and eat and I use a lot of sauces and spices.
Gaining weight for arm wrestling will stop.
They have weight classes so I can compete in one of those. Probably the 220 pound class instead of the Super Heavies.
@contenchess saidSo you're able to drink beer without the craving for a cigarette?
I haven't decided what the beer situation will be 🤔
The two go hand in hand. And sometimes the lowered inhibition from drinking can cause a "what the hell" attitude.
@chaney3 saidVery true. 🤔

I only drink at home since covid hit so the girlfriend will stop me from having a smoke while drinking.
More than likely I will just reduce everything to healthier levels instead of overindulging so much.
The other times I quit smoking I wasn't a drinker so it will be interesting to see how this time plays out. (Probably much harder to quit this time since I love my beer)
@contenchess saidFrom my own experience with attempts at quitting smoking, I didn't kid myself at the extreme cravings for a cigarette that drinking beer produced. So I knew that quitting both at the same time would be necessary. I almost had to quit coffee too. But that's just me. Are you addicted to cigarettes?
Very true. 🤔

Beware of arguments with your girlfriend when she tries to enforce a rule that you created.
@chaney3
Not addicted because I know I can go without them but I do love a smoke with a beer or coffee.
I'll probably have to quit everything 😔
@contenchess saidThe irony is that we would be much better off without it all. We intuitively know that, but need our bodies to rebel, send us to the hospital, and have a doctor tell us what we already know.

Beer, coffee, salt, food, etc. can be moderated. But the minute you add cigarettes to the equation it can all collapse.
Quite a dilemma.
@gambrel saidNo.
But are you still going to smoke the Gage?
I do it but I don't need it or really even like it to be honest.
My gf does it for arthritis and I turn it down 99 percent of the time when she asks me if I want some.
Quitting weed and cigarettes is easy.
Quitting salt and beer will be the hard ones.
I am never going to quit coffee. 😏
@contenchess saidYou could also slow down your lifestyle … 😉
