Good Grief! Does anybody know anything about "Real Ale" ..... live in the barrel - preferably wooden - real flavour for real people. Most draft lager is beer for kids who grew up on coke and fanta. Urquell and others are mighty fine - but bog-standard pouring lager is just that .. Bog-standard.

..and I'm sorry America - but Bud has had the flavour leached out of it - so it doesn't offend the masses.

Great for sales - but don't you want your beer to taste of something?

It most definitely is NOT. I have used the Reinheitsgebot of 1516 as an objective criteria for what constitutes a quality beer. This is a universally applied standard among people who actually know what they're talking about, as opposed to people who just talk without knowing anything. Rice is most definitely not on the list.

That's funny. Neither is wheat or yeast.

It's actually a pretty interesting read. Funny history to the whole thing. But I contest its use as an objective standard for identifying "good beer." Considering that Mesopotamia started making beer around 6000 BC, I think the Germans have some 'splainin to do before they can claim to be the be-all and end-all on beer making.

Their right to like [Budweiser] is not under dispute. I too will grudgingly defend that right. But only as long as they recognize and admit that Budweiser is a wretched beer.

lol...it is pretty wretched. But I say that in the spirit of ironic tragedy!!
