Then only if it wasn't because of them being unhealthy, which isn't the case probably 90% of the time.
I have never met a healthy person who had organ failure unless they were really old, but giving a kidney to an old person would be like investing in a business that is filing for bankruptcy.
I was suggesting that sometimes it's a genetic thing that caused the need for the transplant, or perhaps some sort of injury.

Some conditions however, it would have to make a significant positive difference and there would have to be almost no chance that their body would reject it.
Edit: I would like to note that injuries usually occur due to bad judgement. Whoever was at fault should be the one to live without their kidney.
It's of course a choice. Harder for some and easier for others, My kidneys might not be accepted, but I would give my kidney gladly to a loved one in need. Who knows someone might give me a heart in return. It would of course need to be someone of as good or better character than myself. Which includes almost anyone.
Which reminds me has anyone seen this movie. Will Smith was great. "Seven pounds."

90%(not a factual figure) of people who lead healthy lives don't have organ failure.
@caissad4:
Just because they are professional ball players does not mean they lead healthy lives. How many athletes have had drug charges(including steroids)? Too many to count. How many athletes consume alcohol? I would bet a lot do. So being physically gifted and exercising are not the only things that are required to lead a healthy life style.

I said most healthy people don't get an organ failure..... But it is possible that a healthy person can, thus becoming unhealthy. It was obvious to most that I was talking about people being healthy before the fact.

I say we harvest the organs of the prison population, save some lives that way.
Now we don't know what they can't screen for - mad cow disease?????
