Ah well. 🙄
Depending on what type it could be your fault. 😵

No - that's unlikely; in fact I think it's not possible.

Actually my mother had diabetes too. [though you can inherit a tendency for the disease but you can't inherit the disease itself]

Contrary to popular belief you can't catch it from eating too much sugar either. 🙄

I'm curious, what causes diabetes then?

hmm..that idea is copyright, btw😠
They did the same thing with Snake's hair on the Simpsons when they transplanted it onto Homer. 😛
Bit silly though.

Obesity seems to be a major "risk factor" but I don't believe they know for certain what 'causes' it.

In childhood-onset there must be some version with a genetic component because one first grade (age 6) student was diagnosed and within a year his younger sister was as well.

So If you need a kidney, I think Raven, Pawnhandler, and Sushill would be the ones to suck up to.

Marauder would be another candidate, depending on how much scratch you can pony up. 😀

I would like to thank all the people who posted in this thread.

Best wishes to fellow diabetic Dr Strangelove.

Yeah they reckon that's another "risk factor" ; if one of your parents [or both presumably] have or had it. [or maybe aunts/uncles/etc etc too]

Thanks Ice, same to you. 🙂

From the link you gave:

Due to extra amount of fat in the body, the insulin does not function properly in the body. Normally, the main function of Insulin is to allow the sugar present in the blood to enter the muscle and tissue cells. But due to increased fat in the body, the muscle and tissue cells become resistant to insulin, leading to high blood sugar level in blood (hyperglycemia) and finally diabetes.

Thereby, the best way to improve blood sugar level is by losing weight, in case of over weight people. Even a small weight reduction, would show wonderful effects and our medicines will work more effectively.

True, but it's still just classed as a risk factor rather than a cause from what I've read and learned.

In my own case, I've never been overweight in my life.🙂

It brought to mind the question, would I do the same thing myself.
My kidneys may not be very healty, but say they were, would I do that to save someone else? I still don't know.
To a life-long friend?

Why wouldn't I?
