Its to do with old IE cookies still in use. Once he deletes the IE cookies and the files from the cache, then it'll be fine.
He already has cookies enabled in Firefox cos if he didn't, he wouldn't be able to log in at all.

Alright, I've made the switch and I am currently on this site using Firefox. I see no problems thus far, and the 'tab' option is quite convenient.
