What is the point of getting inked. It looks assinine. There is the rare one that looks alright, but usally they look foolish. People just dont have the heart to tell you.

To each his own. If you don't get it, its not for you. Its also not for you to criticize.

I do have a right to criticize. Let me tell you how I came to my opinion. I was at a garage sale and this 35-40 gang thug shows up. He has full tats, tear by the eye, and the whole bit. Hes wearing a wife beater and calf socks with flip flops. He looks like he is outa oz. I start thinking "what are all these tattoos for." I came to the conclusion that they are ment to let the world know who this guy is. Its non-verbal communication. Many times its used as intimidation.
The next thing I thought about is that its suppose the represent who you are. Dosn't that kinda close the book on maturing and staying open to new ways of thinking about the world around you? I'm just saying that the views you have at 18 should be drasticly diffrent than when you are 50.

I saw something even stupider the other day. A lot of freaks walk around here with pins through their lips.

Suburban angst. I live in the midwest, and its BAD to see the farmers daughter inked up and peirced like a pig off to market. The foul smell of meth, and all that. Thats the price of freedom. You are free to make irresponsible choices.

Is this the grouchy old man thread, or what?

For every "gang thud" with not-so-tasteful tattoos, there are probably 10 normal people with a tastefully discreet tattoo...maybe to feel "sexier", maybe to record some life event, maybe to remember someone. Or, maybe just to piss off some crabass.

Wow. Thanks for such a generic statement. That really made my day.

Talking about WoW, wouldn't it be great to have a W tattoo'd on each arse cheek, so that when you bend over people say: "WoW"?

Never the less, still stupid. Its not fair I know, but get inked, face the music. BTW I am far from being an old man. I am still in college I see retards with tattoos everyday.Im just saying that people get tattoos thinking they are being original. then pick a tat off the wall at some sleezy dive downtown. Butterflies, dragons, larges cats. The harley logo, its all crap. Its just createing more strigent rules to conform to. Therefore stupid.

Is college teaching you that people seeking originality are retards?
How are people who get tattoos creating "more stringent rules to conform to?"
Why aren't bumber stickers included in this complaint of yours. I find those to be more "in-my-face" annoying than a tattoo.

BTW: Many people who have tattoos design their own.

I have Mike Tyson's face on the front upper right leg just below the
waist and Foreman on the left side. My tatoo artist and I are still
figuring out how to shape Don King between them.

Thats the piont. They are getting tattoos to conform to their peer group. Thats whats stupid. In the search for originality they think they need to enclose themselves into tighter rules of conformity.
* EDIT* I applaude those who design their own. I still dont like tattoos. Gaudy Americinism, minds working too literaly.

It's probably painful, but you could tatoo the back of Don King's head onto the end of your nob, so that it looks like he's sucking...
