GET THE MALES OUT!
If you are a male and still in this tournament, you should get a temporary ban from Russ just for adding to his administrative headaches.
Whatever point you wanted to make has been made.
Whatever arrakis' reasons for sponsoring the tournament are unimportant. I applaud him for coming up with the idea and being willing to sponsor ...[text shortened]... paying members. There is no good reason to impede their enjoyment of this site.

And now a message for the males who have entered this tournament:
Starrman has withdrawn and I thank him for leaving. Since this is a tournament specified for the ladies I hope the other males who have signed in will also withdraw. There will be a historical record about this event which will remain for years. Do you guys really want others to know you acted like sissies? This will be something you will never be able to live down! Imagine talking to a friend when they see the record that you played in a LADIES event - but couldn't win it!

Now, see, that's the very reason I, personally, find this whole idea of a womens only tournament ridicolous. There's absolutely no shame in loosing to a woman. Looking at your rating and looking at mine, I'd loose a game against you, but I wouldn't feel ashamed about it in a year to come. That's just crazy. Intelligence is not gender related.
Having said that, I also think it's childish for the men who have joined, not to leave now. If you want a ladies only tournament, as a man I can say I think it's a strange idea. But to enter the tournament in pure spite or as a lame joke? Yes, that is childish.
Originally posted by stockenExactly. If you don't like it either complain about it or, if you are a grown up with a life to attend to, ignore it altogether.

Originally posted by StarrmanI was the first person to join the tournament, I did so partly to point out to arrakis that the way the tournament was set up (just appearing in the list rather than via a thread in Tournaments just like every other limited entry tournament [All Dutch, A duel etc.]) was stupid and partly to create some drama on the forums.
skeeter had threatened Xanthos in our private forum well before I posted here. I cannot vouch for Xanthos' reasons for for entering the tournament, I'm sure he can speak for himself. There is no reason the tournament cannot go ahead, except if you all withdraw so please, stay in and play.
Within a day or so skeeter threatened me with a release of my public data (this first threat was in a private forum) if I didn't leave the tournament. I refuse to cave to pressure under any circumstances. I'm calling her bluff. Release the information you claim to have (this is not permission to release my personal details just in case you try any of that lawyer bullcrap) or admit that you either don't have it or are afraid of the sh!tstorm that will be unleashed if you do. If either occurs I'm out of the tournament.
If the tournament starts and I am still in it somehow tainting the tournament with my testosterone laiden presence then you have no one to blame but your righteous warrior Skeeter.
Originally posted by dottewellI'll complain then, for I have no life to live and I ain't no grownup (obviously). My state of being is beyond you all. YES!!! I am the almighty!
Exactly. If you don't like it either complain about it or, if you are a grown up with a life to attend to, ignore it altogether.
Actually, I have nothing more to say in this matter, so I should probably just quit it. I think a ladies tournament is superflous. I think those guys who must protest by entering it are childish. And I think you are absolutely right. I shall ignore it now.
(Or try at the very least.)

However if you want to gain advantage of the system, go ahead, thats your choice. It does seem you like all the attention your getting though.
Originally posted by flyUnityThanks for reading first and then posting. As I said, I at first entered the tournament partly to show arrakis that the way he started the tournament wasn't the best (better is to start a thread in Tournaments taking entries and then send those to Russ for him to enter), I planned on staying in a few days at most. Since then I have been threatened repeatedly by skeeter to leave the tournament 'or else'. She's tried similar things on various other users and I'm not going to be the next person to back down. She can either put up or shut up.

Originally posted by XanthosNZI read what you posted. and I dont care what the reason is, (First is was because you was againts sexism). If you didnt like the way Arrakis set up the tournament, get used to it. Life is about indifference. I still think its rude to ruin a tournament (and when I say ruin, I mean having the girls withdraw from it), just because you want to be stubborn and not give in to skeeter.

Originally posted by StarrmanI never said skeeters actions are ok. If I was in a similar situation, I would withdraw from the tournament for the Ladies sake. This reminds me of yahoos teenage chess room.

Ho hum. Well there's long and ignoble tradition of men entering women's tournaments including (probably) some cases who won gold medals in Olympic events, although that was in the days before widespread television.
Perhaps the most appropriate thing is for all those who entered the tournament to appear on RHP faces in their best frocks.

The bottom line of the whole thread is that this LadiesTournament is a true fiasco and should be deleted immediately.
I also think that women don't give a damn about this thing, only three actually entered the 1300+ event.
