There are even more rediculous comparisons then those two games, many much closer together then the 7 month difference demonstrated here. But that is a very lop-sided comparison, and there are much, much, much more. I don't see how someone can move from "persistant peice blunderer" to "master" in less then a year, or in this case, less then 3 months, unless there's a new learning technique out there I don't know about. I've slowed my game to moving as I need to against time controls so I get more time to think my moves over and as a result seen my rating go up 100pts. If I start to study openings and the theory of the game beyond the few bits I know already, I reckon I can improve my game (and thus by default my rating) and no mob is going to stop me doing that.
Gotta go... there's a large group of people that have just arrived at my front door carrying pitchforks and the like...

And you have lost me there? How is me winning the first few games on the site at the equivalent of one player being 1400 rated for 300 plus games for years, then shooting up to almost 2000 in 3 months! How do they compare? They are not the same at all, you're smarter then this.
