After 5. ... g6, White seems to lose a piece.

No-one with a rating in four digits should be going for Scholar's Mate variants.

However, here is the start of a game played in the Oxfordshire Chess League last season. Both players are rated in excess of 2000 OTB. Unfortunately my teammate was Black.



White won very comfortably about fifteen moves later.

White resigned here, but obviously, mate in way fewer than 20 moves happens by force with the cute little dance around the bishop 15. Kh4 Qh3+ 16. Kg5 Qh5#
