!. Why do you care? You have not played a game in almost half a year.

2. You are a non-sub. Go to another site and play there if you do not like it here.

3. Why do you always bring up sex crimes? This is an onlline chess site. A far cry from sex crimes. You seemed to be obsessed with the sex crime analogy to cheating in Chess. Cheating on a website is not a crime in most countries. I have never heard of a person serving time for cheating on line in a chess game. Perhaps you can find a better way to compare your point of view.

This is a community and cheating is a crime against the community. Of course this isn't serious enough to warrant censure in the outside world but in here it matters to a lot of people. The analogy with sex crimes isn't one that I would have chosen because on many levels they are incomparable. But in some areas the analogy holds up.

It is simply that an allegation of this offense is liable to cause censure and disgust and this is unlikely to go away even if proved innocent. More so if the accused is a highly regarded and leading figure within the community.

And given the serious nature of the offense (cheating is very serious within the chess community) many would expect swift action to be taken by the authorities and would be outraged if they sensed there were efforts by the authorities to brush it all under the carpet.*

It's been said before and it's worth repeating that this could have all been handled better with a prompt response and better communication from the admins and owners of the site who are the authorities in the context of this analogy.

As for telling Fat Lady to go away to another site I would rather encourage him to resume playing here and I fully appreciate his contribution to the forum weather he's a sub or not and weather or not he is happy to play here at the moment. I hope he doesn't allow himself to be discouraged by your comments.

*English expression meaning to try to keep a problem out of sight rather than deal with it properly.

For me this is really simple. Cludi might not have passed the barrier of "beyond reasonable doubt" (reasonable, as defined by the previous Game Mod team) but he's too close for comfort.

He's not banned because he didn't pass that barrier, but the fact that he is so close raises enough suspicion to be sensible to take him out of the Game Mod Team. Game Mods need to clearly be above suspicion or their authority is undermined.

but take a look at this from cludi's own blog
(from the 'being reported' section )
"This message was of course a shock for me. Even though I always told myself that the “risk” of being reported would always be there, I never really seriously believed that anyone would be suspicious about my game, despite my permanent top 30 placing on RHP"

- now, who would be worried about being 'reported' ?
- does an athlete who doesn't use steroids say to himself " if i win i'll
probably be accused of using steroids " , or " i'd better finish 4th to
avoid steroid accusations " ?

I'm sorry, is this addressed to me? I don't understand what you're saying here if it is.

Congratulations. You've written the most ridiculous and over-the-top post in this whole thread - and there've been some doozies. Can you seriously mention cheating at chess and 'sex crime' in the same breath? Are you really that invested in the outcome here?

My favorite is when users compare having posts removed to Nazi Book Burnings or forum bans to 'going to jail'.

Could be worse. If Fritz checked my games, it'd block my computer from accessing the web site any more on the grounds I'm too stupid. "I'm sorry, Pawny. I'm afraid I can't do that."

But would you rather jail somebody who is innocent and ruin their life or take your time figuring out whether or not they are guilty?
