If you follow these simple tips here, believe me whether you like it or not you will get over 2000 at speedchess even if you are over 85. Whatever you do its interest or lack thereof, that's get you forward.

My plan for getting 2000 blitz is this. Starting Christmas break I am going to:
Do about 20 minutes of the CTS every day.
Read "Logical Chess: Move by Move's" chapter on Queen Pawn Games.
After that, read "How to Reassess Your Chess." (Has a chapter on endgame .)
Then, I plan to start memorizing openings with a database.
Any good?
however... I used Personal Chess Trainer www.personalchesstrainer.com and the K+P endgames are automatic now.
It lets you train by doing so that when you get in the situation you understand the concept without having to read anything.
(not that I am against reading)
You can get the demo that will take you as far as unit 6 I think.

This is about the third time I've quit blitz. I'll be back in a week, thanks for that advice though - I have trouble knowing when to stop, my losing streak didn't start until about 7-10 games in last night, and I then proceeded to lose 10 straight. 🙁

Originally posted by z00tYes, I have. I made 2733 engine in the engines room on Playchess, then all of a sudden it dropped big time. It shows the specs of the opponent and most of them have more than 1 thread or processor. I've seen up to 8 threads. I'm just trying to hang in there with my single processor 32-bit Athlon.
When do you play on PlayChess? Have you noticed the influx of multi-processor machines or "cores" as they are called?

Good thread, I will have to read through it. I broke 2000 once but couldn't maintain it. I usually stick between 1800-1900, but it really flucuates like crazy. I know I got the skills to get there, I just don't manage my time very well.
