I would view going out and buying a book on an opening you are playing is fine. I have a large database that I utilise during play...How about an example. Recently I played a game in the Sicilian Dragon...
Searching through my database I find this position...Among my database there is a Survey from 1993 on this line...Here my opponent plays the varient...This varient however is also covered in the survey. I continue the game and it ends in a draw.
So what you're saying is that at no point did you look at the board, analyse the position, and find the move yourself. You didn't think about any of it, just instantly looked the position up in your books, in your database, and online until you found a GM's move that you could copy.
Dude, it may not be cheating as defined by the TOS, but it sure as [censored] ain't playing chess either. What you're playing is "who's got the biggest database" and "who's got the most time available to frantically scour the internet looking for the best move". I'm just very glad I'll never meet you in a tournament. You're a stronger player than I am looking at the ratings, but from what you say none of it is from your own work or abilities.

My name is nothing in chess world yet. My name won't say anything to you now. But I do hard work to imrove myself. I already have 2 best games in the real tournaments. Those game were selected by judges and its were published in the local newspapers. I am looking forward for 3 big tournaments in this year. Probably I would do well on them and my games wi ...[text shortened]... tty sure you will rember every time about my opinion when you will use chess software next time.
Let us know the newspaper so we can contact them via email and verify it was OTB.
Talk is cheap. You have a lot of it. Sets see a little action and have a name and the tournament and the newspaper name.

In what country do you live buddy and what language do you speak?
But never telling.

There are others from this country who can ask the questions.
We have a saying. Put up or shut up.
The time is now for your to make your choice. You are always trying to find a way not to answer a question but you demand answers.
I think I know why. :-))

I invited seanbutler for the match on Yahoo because I know it is free. I don't have an acount on ICC. I used to have free introduction period with ICC now I can't use it.
seanbutler refuses to play with me. I think this conversation could be over for me.
I'd much prefer to download software from some folks who are running a serious chess site than deal with the endless plates of cookies that yahoo requires my computer to ingest.
Originally posted by shortgoth1The game I gave as an example was the exception rather than the rule. Most games I play on here I can find up to around move 6 in my databases. However the average game lasts closer to 35. That means I find about 29 of my own moves a game.

I'll admit that sometimes I can play out of my database until the game has effectively been decided. However 90% of the time this isn't the case. Let me make this clear. My database consists of around 1.8 million games and this solely comes from Chessbases's Opening Encyclopedia and games I have personally played. I don't scour the internet. In fact searching for a postion in the database takes around 30 seconds. So it's not who can spend the most time. Some people don't have access to a database like mine. Many do and utilize it. I'd be willing to bet a large proportion of the top players here do. It can help your play undoubtably. However it won't turn a bad player into a good player.
You're entitled to think I don't deserve my rating. I'm entitled to believe that as long as I stay within the TOS I do.
Dear seanbutler,
I am not giving my name here until I will be willing to do this. Right now I don't want to give you my name. You gave your name. Fine. It is your choise. I say you cheat you said you don't. I offer you a match in quick chess you refused. It is only way I will change my mind about your actions. The end of story.
Originally posted by XanthosNZYou can bet that almost all the top players, and many of the average players do this. It is an accepted practice in correspondence play.

I scour the internet, and my main database is 2.5 million games. I also have in excess of 20,000 of my own previous games.
If they can log into RHP, they have access to databases such as you and I use. Try:
New in Chess, http://www.newinchess.com/NICBase/ -- small, but selective database
ChessGames.com http://www.chessgames.com/ -- small annotated by web trollers as they wish
ChessBase online database http://www.chesslive.de/ -- 2.6 million games updated weekly; with ChessBase 8 (and I'm certain 9 as well), this database is one click away
and finally, for updating your own database weekly, go to The Week in Chess http://www.chesscenter.com/twic/twic.html
Correspondence play, because it permits use of such databases and books, offers an opportunity to improve one's play and focus study of master games that I cannot ignore. I've learned the hard way, however, the pitfall of playing by the numbers. Just because a move has been played before and the player won does not mean it was a good move. When you use databases, you still must choose your own moves.

You tell us you win prizes but will not tell us your name where you win or who gives them to you.
You are the fox with no tail.
A man who will only play over the internet. We know why.
So you can hide. Why hide. Ahhhh you have something to hide.
Not easy to use your computer OTB is it.
