Please allow me to elaborate.
When the game was speeded up in the 15th century the pawn
was given a choice of making a two move leap on it's first move.
Games were going 1.e3 e6. 2.e4 e5 etc so the leap was introduced.
But the tactic of having a pawn on the 5th rank holding back unmoved
pawns was part of endgame lore so the enpassant rule was added.
I find it amazing that you have made a grade of 1372 without
knowing the rules of the game.
It's a good thing no ep. captures have appeared in your games.
I am also struck by the sheer coincidence between this post and this
one Thread 94188.
There the players name was 'Learn Chess' and he did not know the rules.
Your name is 'Chess Addiction' and neither , apparently, did you.
Never play E.P. in a pub game against a stranger

A classic that I've only ever seen in the notes to games or
in books on traps.
I'll use this in a future C.C.
Seeing somone caught in a trap like this really cheers me up.
It's like hearing a old joke. It's how you tell em.
Cheers Korch.
Maybe I am surprised because I have no books regarding traps;
