Sorry for ignorance, but how do you create the PGN of your OTB game? CAn it be done on the site or do you have to import it?

When you reply to a thread or start a new one, there is a link at the bottom of your screen that reads : "Insert board from PGN"

Click it and paste your PGN

Trying to do a PGN. Tried to play the game in Winboard, copy to clipboard and paste?

Fun game, I was white. Black is ECF 186 My comments:

5. Now out of my opening book
7. Opponent had prepared for ed followed by d5
18 qa4 missed
21 qe2? disaster

followed by some sharp but futile tactics by white.

Main query, I liked my position up to move 19. Id d6 good or bad. What are the alternative plans

I think I would have been inclined to play 19.dxe6 on the grounds that

1. You want the light squared bishops exchanged because his two bishops are already quite strong and I'd rather NvB than N+B vs 2B,
2. The extra space is difficult to defend with just the knight and bishop, and
3. The queenside looks more like you have a queenside pawn majority than he has a minority attack after the exchange.

If he played Bxf3 Qxf3 fex6 then I would play Qg6 and offer the queens off as well then he has to try a win an endgame. Two of his aggressive pieces have then gone and the pawn structure looks like some French Defence lines of 3+3 vs 2+2+2. I'm not sure who that is supposed to favour.

I suspect however, that if you are facing 186's you are stronger than my 140
so you may well have your own views.
I hope someone stronger chips in because this looks like a typical club match position.

General remark:

12. Nd5 seems premature.

I like 12. Bf3, taking the long diagonal, adding pressure to the Queeside, giving some more space to your pieces and freeing the halfopen file for your rooks to occupie and attack.

Responding to your comments:

- missing Qa4 is a shame, but not that awful
- Qe2? indeed deserves the Questionmark

d6 seems not so good to me.
normally it is a joy to stick a pawn up the opponents camp to cramp the postion and give an outpost to your knight
However there is not much to cramp, it doesn't serve as an outpost and it increases the pressure on your own king postion by opening up for the bishop.

I say leave the tension.

For the position after 18 a6
Comming up with a solid plan is hard, however the ideas I would try to follow are:
- Develop, our current pieces ain't developed properly yet
- No unneccesary opening up of the postion since the 2 bishops would benefit from that
- Try doubling up the rooks and add pressure to the half open file
- Stop all black's play

Candidate moves would be
19. g3 a "in-between" move to chase away the Queen
19. Qe2 bringing in the Queen and connecting the rooks
19. Qd3 bringing in the Queen and connecting the rooks, Qe2 seems better though
19. Re1 seizing the half open file
19. Rb3 bringing the rook more into play

I just read Quiet Interlude's post and offcourse second him on the try to exchange a bishop.

I'm not familiar with ECF rating but after googling it I understand this was a match between players with an elo strength of 2100?

Hi there.

I played a tournament at trois-rivière and I end up with the prize, I finished first, I had 4 victory and a draw. I would like to show you the games, The second is drawn and the others end up as winning.

My first game is agaisn't François Molloy, An inexperienced player, But I was playing too fast. I missed some good move, I reject some move because of wrong reason, I reject Qxc6 because I was scared for my pawn, but after Qxb2 and Rd2, the queen is lost. Trapped, and releasing it will cost the bishop. My first english OTB, not anything as here.

The second was not terrible, even more then this one I missed a win, By Rxc7 and at end, I was able to drawn by checking his king, I took the f-pawn his c pawn was nearly queening, but perpetual check.

I played Sylvain Girard, and he was not feeling well too.

And here is another game.

My ennemy, Jacques Pinette, tried to attack for 49 moves, and he end up losing, he had done too much sacrifices, which do not work.
I do not believe i missed a good move, I just played correctly, maybe I have done all best move, but my play was good.

Now, for the fourth game. which is short. I was playing with a young player named Tristan Coté-Lalumière, we had the same score and were nearly obliged to lay together. The game lasted 27 moves, even if he was stronger then Pinette, he played weakly. and, So i trap his queen, I missed the chance to trap at first time, but, he was gone anyway, the second chance, i did not missed it.

and I suppose I need to show my last game, I play the best opponent this time, Robert Martin, but I was able to win with a good tactic. For one time, I did not do any big mistake. Maybe, minor, but no major.

what do you guys about those games ?

Thanks for comments. In the game I rejected ed because i did not like the pressure after fe especially as the bishop would point at h2. Looking back though, I agree it would have been a better try followed by maybe rb3 or such.

My opponent was about 186 ecf. I am not!

My OTB game from last monday.
Opponent is rated 1569. I have the black pieces.

It's very straightforward.

30..Kf7 is not the best move, but..., wel...
I don't have any questions, but improvements are always welcome.

When I went through the game I assumed that you had played 29. ... Nd5 because you'd seen 30. ... Rxg2+! (31. Kxg2 Nf4+ gets the rook back), but then you didn't play it!

I think White could have got his piece back early on by playing 13.Qe3! with the thread of 14.f3

30. ... Nf4 seems "more precise" to me 😛

No way! Swapping off the rooks and leaving White with no pieces whatsoever against two has got to be better.
